So exams are over and my much awaited break is here.

Z, I'm going to start importing the units first. I know you and Reticent discussed some things regarding the units, but I'm gonna try to simply copy the data from the old mod onto the new one until I get familiarized with it all.

Good thing Feuersturm and Co. got all these things done already.
Sweet. So far, nothing was changed aside from the naval units.

I'm doing the techtrees again. The totally revamped industrial and land tech trees takes a bit of time to replicate.

I'm not sure why this happens. The names in unit_names.csv are all there, and the model numbers are all in the division/brigade files. I'm gonna' check out the model numbers again.

In other news, it looks like I'll be stuck working on the techs for a long while. Most of them have no components named or set.

Wait. We already done changes on Infantry and Naval. Or is that vanilla DH techtree?
Nah, I actually just copy-pasted the tech tree and tech names from the AOD mod to the DH mod. But, like I said, my current aim is to just import everything from AOD so we have a solid base to work off of.

I would, but it's gonna take some time, as I haven't even upgraded the files to the RC3 patch yet. Moreover, I would rather wait a while until I imported and tweaked the tech trees and units, so we could then release a basic version with tech pictures and SKIF icons included. At the rate that I'm working right now, with a lot of components already set for the techs, I would say that we could release another version next month at least. If I don't get everything that I'm aiming for done, we'll release another one anyway with our current progress.

I've been thinking about the partitioning of Russia while working on the techs. Generally, we've established that Russia should be carved up in order to weaken it, but not to the point where it's too weak to withstand a Soviet assault.

1 - Free City of St. Petersburg. Ithron suggested this one as a German puppet to control the sea trade and traffic in the vicinity of hostile Communist Finland.
2 - German Volga Republic (Wolgadeutsche Republik). Germany would want that part of Russia to be autonomous and run by ethnic Germans. It will be in the Axis core (along with Germany, Russia, Scandinavia, and depending on how the Baltic will be freed, Estonia, Latvia or Ostland).
3 - Territory that I'm thinking will be assigned to Ukraine if it's liberated. It would count as compensation for Romania owning Transnistria and Germany owning Galicia.
4 - Some independent state, I don't know which. I really don't want it to be a Cossacks Federation or a Kuban/Don Federation, as these have been done in other mods. If anyone has any idea what state could be added here, post away.

So, what do you think?

how about the Legation of St.Petersberg and Archangel? I also don't understand the Volga Republic, why would the Germans want that part of Russia to be autonomous?
I feel like you are able to cut down on Russia even more, because the German Wehrmacht will be there should an invasion occurs
You can cut down Russia on territory, but fund airports and forts along the Russian-Soviet boarder, this I feel can work out too- the Margin-R-Us line lol

I refrain from doing the simple copy-paste because I usually get errors because of the difference between DH and AOD.

Here's my two Pfennigs
1.) One province SPB is too small. Make it bigger by adding a few provinces.
2.) I don't know. I'm kinda skeptic.
3.) Okay.
4.) Transcaucasia or Caucasia. They could have cores on the other three caucasus states.

1 & 2, I like it. 3, not really a problem. I think it's more a "take it or leave it" kind of bargain. 4, perhaps an ethnic Russia, independent from both Germany and Soviet, but with an authoritarian regime who wants to ally with Germany to avoid invasion from Soviet?

I'm skeptical about stripping Russia of northern territory. Sure, there's the security against Finland aspect, but I imagine the north would be more industrialized and Russia needs to keep some industrial zones (note how former Stalingrad is left in Russia). BUT, considering Russia needs to concentrate on the Soviet border first and foremost, creating some northern state along the Finnish border is a good idea. Thanks for the input!

The border will be fortified and garrisoned anyway, and I think that giving Germany some border areas isn't such a bad idea, but I'm not sure about that.

Yup. DH and AOD are like 100% alike in format. Yes, there are some errors (244) in savedebug due to the differences, but they're rather easy to sort out.

Trust me, I tried manually importing the techs and units and it's hell. The only things that needed manual work were the unit specifications and tech components so far.

That makes sense. Honestly, I'm thinking of implementing whatguts's idea and creating a larger St. Petersburg-Archangelsk state along the Finnish border to free Russian troops for the Soviet border.

4.) Transcaucasia or Caucasia. They could have cores on the other three caucasus states.
Very good idea. It could be a sort of combined Russian-Muslim state that will have some stability issues due to conflicting nationalities. Also, perhaps a free Chechen Republic could also be added there. Or not... Russians would probably protest strongly against such a state existing, and Germany would probably heed their protests. This could add to the tension in the Transcaucasian state. If Transcaucasia breaks up, it will be replaced by Reichskommissariat Kaukasus.

Transcaucasia would fit that description. In case of a Soviet invasion, it will join the Axis along with the other three Caucasian states.
