Is the day/night cycle in HoI2 slightly broken like it was in HoI1? And by broken I mean that the day/night areas shown on the small world map are not realistic. Not that it would actually matter very much in the game, but for some reason it greatly annoys me =).

Well, for example, if you look at the day/night-graph on the map, you'll see that day is always longer on the southern hemisphere than on the northern (or vice versa, I don't remember which way it was). At times there's no night at the south-pole (as it should be), but this never happens on the north pole.

Judging from the mini-map in the screenies I would say that in January there are short days in the Northern hemisphere and in June there are NO (!!!) nights in the southern part of the southern-hemisphere ...

The day-time/night-time thingie seems only to shift northwards in summer without compensating for longer southern-nights (just like you explained) ... so I wouldn't be surpised if nothing has changed ...

I took a look at the wargamer preview...there is a map of finnish-soviet border during June 22 1941. The minipap shows that the days in northern hemisphere are shorter than the days on southern hemisphere, which is of course bollocks for june.

So it seems that the old HoI bug still lingers: the seasons do not affect the daylight hours, the daylight pattern looks late autumn/early spring through the whole year. Irritating bug, but it's not critical.

I dunno, in the demo daybreak came hours earlier in April then in December.

The seasons did affect the daylight hours in HoI - the sun came up later in December than it did in June.

There were two errors in the old game, though - (1) this was not reflected in the mini-map and (2) there was no adjustment for latitude. From what I can tell on the demo, this has not been corrected.

The annoying bug where you click on the mini-map and it brings you to a slightly different place on the big map than the mini-map shows has been fixed, it appears.
