I'm getting it in between the 1st and 2nd tutorial mission, I've done the 1st mission 3 times no skirmishing appears to work fine.

The only thing I can think of off hand is maybe checking that your video driver is up to date. It's all I can think of at this time.

I faced the same issue, which you can see here in my first impressions video:

But reloading the game seemed to fix it.

That said, the game feels technically poor, with lagginess being a near constant irritant while you are playing.
