I'd love to see PDS's take on Ancient Greece.

We should create a movement/group on this :D [my preference would be 1200BC though, more city-state to play with + Egypt and other neighbours are relevant]

I quite crave for something with ancient colonization, be it greece colonies, phoenician colonisation, where trade and politics are one. But I think that something like city-builder theme could be used rather than great abstraction used in pdox games.

I've made a proposal-post on a concept that Paradox could tackle, not sure if it's here :D It'd basically be a combination of city-state expansion, colonisation and trade plus military & navy.

You know, all those snowy vague fantasy elements could mean the 'new project' is a fantastical take on Kingdom building in the dark ages. Who doesn't want to establish a human empire in the wild, in say a Lord of the Rings environment. The scale would be between Crusader Kings 2 and an RTS. And, if Paradox wants to do something stunning, it would be on a nearly continuous map, not one with provinces.

That would be a fun game... Though Paradox may have said that they're not doing a fantasy game.

As for Hearts of Iron 4, I'd like much better control of battles, especially integration of different arms (air power), and the ability to schedule and pre-design an offensive.

Continuous map could be ideal for ancient era games. Based on ancient Egypt, Greece, Persia etc.

diegosimeone - I disagree about the era, Egype, Greece, Persia, for this reason:

I think a continuous map would be advantageous in a game where the player does not control 'land' but instead controls towns and outposts within an uncontrollable wilderness. If the game has player built empires, that removes the idea of needing to interact with a certain geography and building a kingdom within that geography. (The game would have one main element of player interacting with a geography, hence possible need for fantasy to randomize the geography.)

If you go back far enough to the empire founding, when 80% - 90% of the land is uncontrolled, then a continuous map would be good for ancient era. A dark ages game would definitely benefit from continuous map.

I'd actually like to see how they would handle an Ancient Greece game that includes Italy and the Balkans.

I know a lot of the land of those places was not actually conquered or colonized at all so I would like to see them include them but make them incredibly hard to keep control of (actually, most land should be like that).

Just an idea though. My top suggestions are:

1) A game set from a time before the Roman Republic began to the fall of the Western Roman Empire (or right before). There was a thread a few months back on the Rome forums that had a lot of cool and interesting ideas. The map would include the entire Mediterranean, France, Germany, the Lowlands, Britain, (maybe) Ireland, and (maybe) Hungary and western Slavic lands (Poland, Bohemia, Slovakia, etc.). Land would be very difficult to hold unless you integrate and appease the locals.

2) An Asian equivalent of CK2, covering the same amount of time and being convertible to EU4.

3) And a Dark Ages game that includes the entire CK2 map but works differently (have migration work more as it happened in that time period).

No matter what, I'm really excited for the announcements.

I would like to see a game about Warring States China and the whole struggle between the various schools of thought. Or maybe a game focusing on the geopolitics of India.

I wouldn't. I'm not personally interested in China or India.
A detailed game about Japan would be nice but then there is already Sengoku.

Is there already a precise date set for Paradox con? Shouldn't Pdx start giving us hints on what is coming already, if it's set to be at the end of the month?

pdxCon is at the end of January
PDS already gave us a hints with Elephant picture, Doge picture and Wast steppe-like space picture. I think there were some other hints. Well if I remember right Doge was supposedly a hint to next EU DLC wich we will get in 2014 and an elephant was a hint for a new complete game.

Johan has repeatedly said that all the main line games will receive a new installment "before 2020." Vicky III will come out eventually.

Which means HoI4 is next in the line. Vicky3 will most likely receive a sequel in 2016.

project nero (rome?)& project armstrong (space game?)

Space game = could be, there is the UFO present under the tree
rome = This is denied, The elephant in the presents and in the christmastree-ball

What do we know of the secret projects (2) and CK2 expansion to be announced late next week:

Presents under the tree:
1. Elephant
2. UFO? (could be like a medal though)
3. Bear with a half-axe
4. Wierd shape

Teasers:
1. Elephant in christmastree-ball
2. Wintery landscape
3. Wintery landscape with wall of a castle

Other:
1. Pig-sprites

Too much to be put under the CK2 expansion (elephant, bear, castle, pig)

So speculation follows:
1. Super secret IS a space game (UFO)
2. The other secret project IS an Ancient era game (Elephants and Pigs)
3. CK2 expansion just IS (wintery landscapes and castles, bear)

I'm pretty sure that every speculation above is true with a 10% confidence level.

And except for the wintery landscape there is nothing pointing at HOI4, which we have though to be quite sure to be announced. On the other hand giving a picture of Tiger or Elephant would be just too revealing...
