I'd love to see PDS's take on Ancient Greece.
We should create a movement/group on this[my preference would be 1200BC though, more city-state to play with + Egypt and other neighbours are relevant]
I quite crave for something with ancient colonization, be it greece colonies, phoenician colonisation, where trade and politics are one. But I think that something like city-builder theme could be used rather than great abstraction used in pdox games.
You know, all those snowy vague fantasy elements could mean the 'new project' is a fantastical take on Kingdom building in the dark ages. Who doesn't want to establish a human empire in the wild, in say a Lord of the Rings environment. The scale would be between Crusader Kings 2 and an RTS. And, if Paradox wants to do something stunning, it would be on a nearly continuous map, not one with provinces.
That would be a fun game... Though Paradox may have said that they're not doing a fantasy game.
As for Hearts of Iron 4, I'd like much better control of battles, especially integration of different arms (air power), and the ability to schedule and pre-design an offensive.
diegosimeone - I disagree about the era, Egype, Greece, Persia, for this reason:
I think a continuous map would be advantageous in a game where the player does not control 'land' but instead controls towns and outposts within an uncontrollable wilderness. If the game has player built empires, that removes the idea of needing to interact with a certain geography and building a kingdom within that geography. (The game would have one main element of player interacting with a geography, hence possible need for fantasy to randomize the geography.)
If you go back far enough to the empire founding, when 80% - 90% of the land is uncontrolled, then a continuous map would be good for ancient era. A dark ages game would definitely benefit from continuous map.
Continuous map could be ideal for ancient era games. Based on ancient Egypt, Greece, Persia etc.
I would like to see a game about Warring States China and the whole struggle between the various schools of thought. Or maybe a game focusing on the geopolitics of India.
Victoria is basically dead, I guess.
Johan has repeatedly said that all the main line games will receive a new installment "before 2020." Vicky III will come out eventually.
project nero (rome?)& project armstrong (space game?)
