I believe the hint is in the project name, "The big leap forward." They mentioned on multiple occasions that they would love to do a grand strategy set in the future, and a timeline set in, say, 2300 would certainly be a big leap forward from the 20th century stuff that we have now.
Rome 2 sounds good. Although I liked the time period, I never really liked Rome - despite it being my first paradox game. However, if they make Rome 2 like they made CK2, then it'd be a worthy buy. No comment on HoI or Victoria since never played either.
A future timeline is definitely an interesting idea and I'd get sold on it. However, such a direction would be adventurous given that a portion of the fans seems to be attracted to the historical aspect of the game and a sci-fi setting may not have similar appeal.

They are still making East vs West, which is a HOI game. I don't wish them to make another WWII HOI game. HOI3 was my first paradox game, but the one I found the most complicated and most frustrating. I hope they make more character based games like CKII.
EvW is not a Paradox developed game, it's just published. Plus it's another time period than WW2, it's like saying that you don't want to have Victoria 3 because EU4 got released.
Distant Worlds is already the Paradox-style space 4x.

and they have three new unannounced games being worked on at the moment, of them we will see two at the event which Paradox has in January.
Are you sure its three? Last time i heard anything about that, it was two games.
Yes I am sure, they said that they have currently five separate teams working on separate games. One is CK2 expansion, another is EU4 expansion, two games which will be announced in January and the last one isn't ready yet to be announced because it hasn't been developed for that long amount of time.

I'd guess a final expansion for Victoria 2, that be nice to have. And something else we don't know yet...I still pray for Hearts of Iron 4.
