I usually maintain this set of questions as a running commentary over on the Valhalla Subforum, but seeing as how BATTLETECH is now Mission Complete, I wanted to share this last BATTLETECH Livestream Question Update Post with everyone here.
Yesterday was the very last livestream of Mitch Plays to Win.
Jordan was a Very Special Guest Star.
Together Mitch and Jordan found that natural chemistry of Give and Take, setup and delivery that has proven so very compelling from the very first BATTLETECH Kickstarter Livestream 1599-days ago.
Much has been made clear over the last 48-hours. I’ll go through my current crop of questions, many I got answered last night and provide what answers I can.
BATTLETECH LIVE SUPPORT TEAM -
QUESTION: Will a much reduced BATTLETECH Live Support Team still hunt the occasional BATTLETECH Bug?
ANSWER: IIRC, No. (Can anyone confirm or deny this one? There was so much give and take last night, that this answer from Mitch May have has a qualifier or two.p that I did not pick up on.)
THE FUTURE -
QUESTION: Are there any efforts underway for a
BattleTech Succession Wars-style game from Paradox and/or HBS?
ANSWER: Not now, though never say never.
QUESTION: Neither HBS nor Paradox are listed Vendors for Gen Con this year. Is it possible that Jordan, Mitch or other members of Team HBS or Paradox will be appearing on Gen Con Gaming Industry Panels this year?
ANSWER: Mitch has purchased a GENCON2020 badge but other commitments may intervene and prevent him from attendance even as a conventional goer. Others from Team HBS may also be going in a personal fashion and not as official HBS representatives.
QUESTION: Given that BATTLETECH is now complete, if there is a 2020 MechCon, would HBS be interested in attending?
ANSWER: No.
THE GAME -
QUESTION: I understand Update 1.9 will improve the BATTLETECH Modloader, what does it mean that the Modloader itself can be “Moddable?”
ANSWER: This is true. But not being a technical person, Mitch could provide no further clarification or details.
QUESTION: BATTLETECH Melee is a crowd favorite. Are there any Update 1.9 refinements to Mech Melee, DFA or damage to man-made structures?
ANSWER: There will be a high concentration of Bug Fixes in Update 1.9, but none of them touch upon Melee as far as Mitch could recall.
QUESTION: BATTLETECH Combined Arms now has BattleMechs, Vehicles and Artillery... do you think given Update 1.9 and twelve months of effort, might our Mod Community be able to realize Airstrikes and Infantry?
ANSWER: Not being technically inclined, I deemed Mitch and Jordan not to be the best folks to ask this question of.
HBS VIPS -
QUESTION: For Jordan and Mitch (aka
@HBS_HighCommand) you’ve had Mike (aka @HBS_Dropshadow), Connor (aka
@HBS_CaptKerberos) and Ryan (aka
@HBS_RedMenace) each individually lead significant BATTLETECH development efforts... how great has it been to see this next generation of BattleTech Developers come into their own?
ANSWER: Both Mitch and Jordan feel that this topic, junior Developers coming into their own, is one of the best and most favorite facets of their jobs.
QUESTION: For Mitch, how is Hershel?
ANSWER: Hershel completes Mitch.
QUESTION: For Hershel, how is Mitch?
ANSWER: No better Human exists. #micdrop
QUESTION: For Jordan, how is development of Legends of the Sea progressing? How has joining Zach and RyRy in Guildhall Studios been working out?
ANSWER: Legends of the Sea will becoming to a Kickstarter soon. Working with Zach and RyRy is fantastic. As is working with Nate on his own projects.
QUESTION: For Mitch, will Hershel appear on your upcoming live-streams in support of HBS’s next game launch?
ANSWER: Likely but not assured.
QUESTION: For Mitch,“Will there be a pet onboard the ARGO?” was a question we entertained in Kickstarter. Any chance for Update 1.9 to add a Hershel MOD to the ARGO’s Captain’s Quarters?
ANSWER: No such Mod plans exist... but the question did pull at the heartstrings some.
ADVICE: BATTLETECH 2 should have QUADS and our favorite HBS Quad-enthusiast, Hollie should be the one to animate them to Big Stompy LIFE. : )
REACTION: Putting this as “ADVICE” was tricksy.
QUESTION: For Mitch and/or Jordan, with both Shadowrun and BattleTech now in the books for HBS, how has “HBS Brand” turn-based gaming evolved in the last decade?
ANSWER: While neither wanted to speak of HBS’s next brace for games, I did get the impression that one or more of them may indeed be turn-based. Can anyone confirm or deny this best estimation?
QUESTION: For Connor, what is this I hear about your brewing and bread side hustle in the office? Any truth to the rumor you’ll be appearing on a February episode of Shark Tank?
ANSWER:
@HBS_CaptKerberos makes exceptional brew and absolutely terrific bread. They could neither confirm or deny the Shark Tank rumor. : )
PROCEDURAL QUESTIONS -
QUESTION: Will we have another Mitch Plays to Win livestreams for these next brace of HBS games?
AMSWER: Very likely, but not assured.
QUESTION: Any chance HBS might have some Merch for sale with their next brace of games?
ANSWER: Possible but not assured, though there was clear interest here.
QUESTION: Any chance we can get an “Ask the Devs” forum section and Monthly Q&A’s with the next HBS game?
ANSWER: Mitch was very intrigued by the possibilities here, but no assurances were given.
The four-year BATTLETECH Experience has been a truly great Run.
We may NEVER see it’s like again.
It is very much a case of
Lightning-in-a-Bottle for me and no few others.
My thanks to Team HBS for adding so very much Big and Stompy Goodness into the World!
