What really bugs me, is why would developers hide, on what do they work, if they are already committed?

because you don't tell business secrets to anyone without getting fired. everything that is internal is also confidential. thats how it works in every business everywhere in the world.
are apple employees running around telling everyone that they are working on a new iPhone 5 or something else? no, of course not.

And before you post more bulshit, a huge number of games are anounced years in advance, as soon as the company is comited to release.
