In the Crusader Kings Consultan the Creator Interview today he said the following statement:

Fåhraeus: Thanks for the interview! I am happy to report that Crusader Kings II is still doing very well and the future looks bright. We have planned the next four expansions in some detail, and I think people will be pleased with the subject matters!

Anybody have any idea on what the next 4 DLC's could be? Here's to hoping that one of them is strictly for combat!

I hope they are in order; Orthodox Religion expansion, Swords of Islam type expansion for Pagans instead, more traits and historical accuracy and finally upgrading combat

I'm guessing, in no particular order:
Byzantine/Orthodox
Pagans
More religious depth for Catholicism (with mild chance of playable theocracies)
Trade and economic depth (again, mild chance of playable republics)

There is room for another "Coat of Arms Pack" and there is certainly need for more hairstyles, clothing and more unique looks for certain cultures. Pagans will always be on my list.

I lol'd xD
I don't think this is too far from the truth. IIRC they want DLCs to not break the game for multiplayer - read - they want people who have a certain DLC to be able to play against someone who doesn't. That means it changes purely aesthetic things like Skin, Clothing, Sprites, Music. Since we've already gotten Music here is my guesses:
  • A big expansion for Character appearances (skin, hair, shapes)
  • A big clothing expansion (head gear, shirts, different cultures)
  • A sprite expansion (regional stuff, religious stuff, maybe tiered changes)
  • A religious expansion (new icons for the different religions as well as special clothes for priests/imams)

That is what I think. Honestly, I am okay with that. I'll probably grab one or two, but not all of them. Never got any of the EU3 sprite packs, but I know for some people it is an important thing.

Easy predictions;

-Each DLC will come with a free patch.
-They'll be two months apart.

Features:
-Playable Republics with unique content and mechanics. Everyone gets new mechanics related to republics but only buyers can play as one.
-Playable Bishops with unique content and mechanics. Everyone gets new mechanics related to theocracies but only buyers can play as one. Includes Papacy overhaul and playable Pope.
-Massive rework of the ERE and the Orthodox religion in general with historical differentiation between the ERE and the Catholics. I'm going to guess the only way to sell this as DLC will be to 'disable' Orthodoxy for non-buyers though, because it needs to remain one code base. That might be a bit of hurdle. Maybe they'll choose to patch this instead of selling it for this reason.
-Same thing we just got for Muslims, but for Pagans and Mongols. Comes with a nice map expansion towards Mongolia and eastern Persia.

Of course each DLC starting with SOI will cause new issues and change game balance quite a bit, so its predictable that each new DLC's patch will come with countless balancing and bug fixes for the previous DLC changes. By the time the next 4 are out, we will surely have a full expansion's worth of new features compared to the base game. Glad to see this game alive.

I very much doubt that this will happen. The locking people out of Muslims was fine since they were not originally playable, locking out the Orthodox would cause a real shit-storm. I think that the only way to do this would be for it to be included as extra patch features accompanying another major dlc.

All the aesthetic enhancements to any future releases are nice, but the biggest thing for me is combat overhaul. Everything from the interface to the ability to control your generals. It's pretty messy as it is.

I also don't like the "Hostile" army aspect of the game. I can see it for very specific instances, but many times it is just nonsensical.

The Byzantines and the Russian Principalities really need some love. Counts should be Boyars and Dukes should be Prince and Kings should be Grand Prince when it comes to the titles in Russia.

Boyars were second in rank to a Prince (Kniaz) and if you held greater power than other princes, you were a Grand Prince (Veliky Kniaz). Ivan IV of Moscow before he took the title of Tzar was a Grand Prince.

Alexander Nevsky was invited to become Prince of the republic of novgorod, but also held the title/claim as Grand Prince of Vladimir.

You're the third person to say this, but why? Coming from EU3, I actually really like the little improvements like flanks and morale having a separate bar, I just wish troop numbers did not determine the result quite so much. That to me sounds like a balance issue.

I really don't see why there's such a fuss over this. I routinely lose battles when I outnumber my foe 2:1+ if they have a much better general(s).

To lose 2:1, you'd have to be fighting a Mongol doomstack or perhaps fill your flanks and centre with 0 martial generals or something. 2:1 in CK2 is pretty much a guaranteed bloodbath in your favour like 97 times out of 100.

I feel like I have much more control over my troops in EU3, from assigning generals to troop movement. Yeah, the flanks are nice, but I've not a clue how to control them or the generals.
