Patch sounds very promising. Thank you for working so hard on it. I really want this game to work well and play well and I know it will improve with age and patching.

One suggestion - would it be possible to have buttons in the trade section that would indicate if I wanted to receive offers for resources or not? It would be nice to let the AI know not to bother me with trades for items I am stockpiling and not interested in trading.

I know that I can simply ignore offers that don't interest me, but I still have to examine each offer to see if I might want it. With such buttons as I suggest, the only offers I would get would be for items I am willing to sell. This would also perhaps save some processor cycles and speed the game a small amount.

Then you expect us to shell 20$ a pop for what will essentially be an overglorified patch in the expansions. The money grubbering is absolutely ridiculous.

While a lot of game reviewers essentially said that about many Paradox expansions (it should have been a patch). I think the problem is with the size. If you publish an "expansion" under 100 megabytes it will be viewed badly by reviewers. I think the solution is to add lot's of MB heavy content such as pictures and videos and the like to buff up the size. Than you could avoid such complaints about expansions being more like patches.

Ummm, why do we even need this patch? I mean it is coming out like 3 weeks after the game. You should have caught that stuff and fixed it before the launch.

Im sorry P-dox but your business practice is getting progressively worse as you ship bad product and then hope your reputation of fixing it will save you for a while as you take nearly a year to fix the glitches. Then you expect us to shell 20$ a pop for what will essentially be an overglorified patch in the expansions. The money grubbering is absolutely ridiculous.

its one thing some criticism, its another thing to crap all over other ppl efforts.
its a progress report on patch... how many dev do you know do this?

I'd agree. When you look at the size of the demo (I've only the demo but we shouldn't be far from the real game), the .exe file is only 9240KB (9Mb) extending to a small 10000Kb with dll libraries (not even 10Mb). there are more than 400 Mb of pictures and video, 115Mb of music, 570Mb for the map ( ).
What can you add if you make an extension ? Some new 2D or 3D pics maybe but surely a big amount of coding that is not taking much size. you could have a brand new game but with only a 20Mb compressed file.

Great i even had a dream about a simplified map, just for preformance in Mulitiplay. Otherwise my computer tears it up in Single player on full graphics...and alas my dream comes true; ill be able to play HOI3 on-line as fast and smooth as HOI2

It looks fine. I think it is a good idea to have this map modus as an additional mamodus, because perhaps some people liked the first one. So we will have more choice.

Thank you ...

MAP:
please could you again Combine the Weather Map with the Terrain Map again ... that is my preffered one, as you need it to plan the battles, when and where to attack , as both factors have an major (in reality) impact of the outcome of the battles.

Also when you move with the mouse over the region on the weather map, please could you include the Name of the province and terrain - always (each map mode) ... and of course then the proper information for that map mode !

DIPLOMACY:
Please make more Requests if you are Allied with a nation ... like
*Defend your border
*Fight Partisans
*Improve your Fleet, Air or Landunits
*Send Military Advicors to help build Inf. etc. ... (like Player could buy to build advanced designs ... Allied should also be able to do it ... In my game 1940 most of my allies have 1-1 or 1-2 Divisions and I already have 5-5 (inf) even my enemies have around 4-4 ...
and a lot more (ATM it isn't very challenging)

INTELLIGENCE:
same as Diplomacy , please mor possibilities , depending on how many spies in the other contry and how the situation is.

MESSAGE SYSTEM:
Please message box BIGGER (maybe free window to drag where I want ist)
The messages should be more like a newspaper AND ONLY I SHOULD GET messages, which my country could really know (from Diplomacy and Intelligence ... and how good it is )
Maybe also some Flashbacks ... like message pops up (really would be cool, if they would look like an old newspaper, dependig which country someone is playing, maybe also with some short part of music ... "Wagner and that") So community could use it to offer all events with some multimedia show ...

I THINK IT IS THE KEY TO IMPRESS THE PLAYER AND GET HIM SOMEHOW DEEPER INTO THE GAME (IMMERSIONS)

And a lot more ... but already playing it and enjoying it, as I am a micromanagment fan and that is what is possible atm.

THX for the game and wish you success ...

AND PLEASE NO MORE than 9.90.- for downloadcontents/Add Ons ... I only buy them if they are below 10.- .. waited for SR 2020 crises, when it was at SALE WEEKEND ... and it wasn't even worth that 10.- but okay, for 20.- I would hated now that DEVS ...

SPRITES: Please make them also Highlighted when you mark a HQ and something to see if there are more units on one field. THX

Would it be possible to release some of the performance, save game corruption, and lag fixes that you have completed in another hotfix seperate from the 1.2 patch? The game is barely playable for me as it is, even more frustrating to see the time you put in get ruined by a corrupted save game.

Also, can you rename the transports used in convoys to something else? Like merchantmen? My subs sunk ship lists are full of sunk transports, even though they are not really 'transport' ships.

Lastly, would it be possible to change the icon that you use to delete units into a garbage can or something? I think it's bad design to have an 'x' icon to delete units, just below the 'x' icon to close a menu. I know it generates a popup, but it tends to get lost in all the other pop ups generated by the game.

Thanks,

Just to think that about 10 days ago everybody was wetting themselfs about the game.. and now those people are the first to complain.

For the speed issue, there's a very simple fix: If you own a dual/quadcore CPU, just set affinity to one CPU and the game will run perfect without any lag. (I know you shouldn't have to do this, but really, Paradox is worth going through the effort of blowing my PC up once a month :D)

And while I also find the length it takes for a year to pass very annoying, just try to figure your army hierarchy out. That should keep you busy for awhile :p

I wouldn't mind giving money for a "glorified patch" If it enhances the overall experience, and you can say all you want, but no other company but Paradox has such good community support and such massive games as they have.

Just to remind everybody: this game is MASSIVE. It has every single nation at the time, pretty much every nation that's around today (you can release them), the entire worldmap in DETAIL, historical political parties, intelligence system, combat system, the list goes on and on. So it's probable that some things won't work with the stock version of the game.

I wouldn't accept this If it was some shitty FPS game, because they are alot easier to test, but for a game so massive as HoI, I can accept this. And as long as Paradox shows their support, I'll keep on buying their products, no matter how "shitty" they are at launch.

Ow, and I wanna say thanks to Johan and everyone at Paradox for getting hotfixes out so fast and working weekends just to keep us gamers happy, you guys rule! :D

So you are basically saying that fixing problems which only some people have and do this fast is a bad thing? And the new map mode, which was done by request, should have been in the product before anybody asked for it?

I honestly think you got absolutly no clue.

Two more weeks is a long time to wait for a patch to make the game semi playable.

Consider patching in what you have in a couple days to tide us over. Then release the full patch when ever.

I would second that. However, not because I cannot wait 2 weeks, I am more than willing to wait a bit longer, if the game is 95% polished afterwards. However, I think HOI3 is set up to become the landmark in strategic wargames, given its mechanics , depth and mod-ability. However, for this it must become a commercial success which in turn probably requires very high initial sales and good initial feedback. From what Johan has posted in the beginning of the thread, the 1.2 beta seems to be already much better than the currently available 1.1c. Hence, it might be a good idea to publish 1.2 later this week and then spend another two weeks on 1.3. Afterwards, Johan should take some vacation...
