When i created my a new custom Empire by decision it did not have elective, but changed succession laws to gavelkind.
This is pretty annoying because my ruler is pretty old and stressed and i have to rule 10 years as emperor before i can change this again.

Before creating the empire title i had 3 kingdoms: Saxony, Pommern and the Netherlands with Saxony as my primary with all having elective before and after empire creation. Those kingdoms are now de jure territory as expected, no other law had changed but the succession.
(i play with all dlcs i have enabled as reformed germanic pagan)

Yo,

Yeah, that doesn't sound right. Do you have a save handy, so we could take a look at it ?

If you have saves of before & after it would be awesome, but if not, we'll still manage.

uhm........this is the most creepy ruler i ever played >.< SeaKing, Kinslayer, paranoid, cruel, zealous, (evil) genius, deceitful, disfigured. Maybe its his will to inherit some lands to his own offsprings. He became so cunning that he started to mess with the underlying ck2 code ....

Ha ha, he's a piece of work, alright !

Well, I was able to reproduce easily thanks to the save. It's indeed quite problematic, so I'll make a ticket right away and we'll try to fix that asap.

As for you, I'd suggest going into the savefile and modifying directly the succession type of your empire to Elective (or use console commands), as this is clearly a bug.

Anyway, thanks for the report

Cheers
