Oh hey.

If anyone has some obscure event or interesting part of history that they would like to bring to our attention, go for it. (Especially for interwar. It's quite boring)

Oh, also.

I would like to officially announce that we have paired up with two new mods. The first, and the one I will say is the All in One mod by @jamiroquai000. It's a very good mod improving on WW2.

That's all for now

The ALL-IN-ONE mod uses Elite German Divisions mod which is the coolest thing I've seen in any strategy game. It has nationally specific names for SS divisions, Wallonia for instance, and they even have the original sleeve patches to go with each division if you're using the NATO insignias. If you guys could add more of that to the game, I think it'd be set for a 2.0 designation. In WWII add in American armies like Big Red One with a red number one in the NATO box and have WWI German hussars with a totenkopf in their boxes. That'd be awesome!

Hi all - I have been an avid player of this mod for many years now. Have recently taken some time off due to work commitments but regularly follow this thread and am excited to read about the merger with two new mods (which is the other??).

I exclusively use the long-game time to play with minor/regional powers and make them bigger (another motivating factor is the weak AI), and the 2 minor suggestions I have is:

-Add more army, navy and airforce leaders for minor/regional powers as once you expand your armies greatly after 30 years of game time, sometimes they are not enough. I am referring to countries such as Greece, Sweden, Argentina, Brazil, Australia, Portugal, Thailand.

-Sometimes this occurs with scripted events, but you should not enforce a technology or trade embargo with a country if you are in an alliance with them (or such an embargo should be lifted if it exists then you join an alliance). I have often seen this be the case playing with Portugal during WW1.

Other than that, once the new update comes out I will be excited to play my very first TGC game on the 1.05 version.

I think the Hungarian Soviet Republic could do with a bit more flavor. They wanted to establish a Slovak Soviet Republic out of some of the Slovak lands they had if I remember right. There is also an issue I noticed a long time ago, and not sure if its still in there - but for some reason if you are Hungary and communist after WWII the Soviet Union gets to just take you over. At the very least it would be nice to see an event for its triumph in the interwar period and maybe more ministers, and a possible event later to join the Communist International alongside the USSR if the first alliance isn't proposed by a Soviet Union (Perhaps after a victory in its war with its neighbors?).

I think it would be neat as well to see a Soviet Hungary be able to claim a little more of its historic lands as well, and possibly establish more 'Soviet Republics' in the process as an, albeit weaker, alternative to the USSR itself.

Hey C I have never seen the Sovs take over Hungary. Just yesterday we were talking about the Sovs helping Hungary once in a while. Right now the AI never does. We want to have more alt-history things happen especially if fairly pausible. Oh wait the Commie Germany track has export the revolution option which turns some smaller European countries commie of some flavor. Then you can start the war vs the capitalists when you like the mix you got. Germany can also ally with the Sovs. To have all this fun you just need to pick Thalmann in the early 32 presidential elections instead of Hindenberg. That was why we had the 1930 save with the mod. Thanks for the ideas.

Hey V you can already play this with 1.05. See page one. It is not the new version that we are coming out with but it works mostly. I agree about leaders for minors. I like to play little guys sometimes also. It is a challenge not like world conquest as Germany or the Sovs. Yes the trade embargoes are a problem. I was allied with Germany as Sweden and the mod still put an embargo on them. I do not know how that happened, maybe because they did it when neutral. We will try and look into it.

Hey D we took out the free units that many countries got but mostly Germany. I want to put them back but it makes Germany really more powerful and is gonna mess up all my efforts at game balance. So it is gonna be a bit tricky. I do like the idea of the patches.

I love the AIO mod, but in the last few versions, AI Germany steamrolls AI USSR usually within a year....18 months at most. Proceed with caution

Perhaps it could be worth examining more closely a way to stop the Spanish Civil War from happening. A more gradual pass from Primo de Rivera Dictatorship's to a form of govern more like the republic. Although, without the dictablanda, a constitunional monarchy one.

It could be like this:

1923, start of the dictatorship

1925, passing from a militar dictatorship to a more civil one.

1927, the option of continuing in the same line, or start the work of a national concentration goverment, inviting Indalecio Prieto, Lerroux, Alcala Zamora, and perhaps, even Azaña. It coul be touch and go, at firs, represented by a huge dissent, but it coul have several developing events, in ic, population and infraestructure and mining, with the result of disminishing that dissent, resulting in a more stable country and type of goverment by the early 30.

Interesting, but isn't it possible to also maintain the dictatorship. If Spain properly won the Rif War it might have survived.

To be honest, I disagree with the assertion that the Spanish Civil War was still avoidable by the time of the Republic, Rivera, or let alone the beginning of the Rif War. The only way to truly avoid a Spanish Civil War is to avoid WWI entirely. The Spanish wartime business boom, inflation, and inability to protect consumers all contributed to the further radicalisation of the left in Spain and some of the first examples of united anarchist & socialist direct action. You saw pistolismo in barcelona and violent suppression of wage protests throughout the war years.

The war also shaped Spain's policy in Morroco to such a degree that the Disaster of Annual was all but innevitable. Paranoid about the European situation and developments in Metropolitan Spain, the General Staff refused to allow any further offensive actions in the Rif after the defeat of Raisuni until 1919, despite repeated calls for action by successive high commissioners. Wartime inactivity allowed Raisuni to recoup his losses, and El-Krim move towards anti-Spanish agitation. The Crisis of 1917 radicalised the left long before 1934, and wartime Morrocan policy lay the seeds for the fall of the monarchy and the Rivera dictatorship.

I agree that the moroccan protectorate was a catalist for the eventual war. However, I still think that something different could have been done to prevent the war. The dictatorship started with a lot of people support, even from the left. With a gradual inclusion in the government, I think the moderates in the PSOE could still have done a lot of the neccessary reforms. One of the republic's problems was that there was no continuity in the actions realised. A general plan, and the implemention of the measures taken during the monarchy, would help ensure that. Along with the building of more infraestructures and factories, I think the monetary crisis could have been averted, resulting in a more prosperous country. There was many people, from the moderates of both sides, that wanted to work together. I know that the spanish civil war is iconic, but I really think things could have gone differently.
