Hiya all

I just decided to learn how to mod and decided to start out trying to make a battlescenario. In HoI2 I've only been editing events, tech teams and ocasionally a save game to get countries in or out of alliances so most of this will be fairly new to me so please bear with me if I'm asking stupid questions.

First problem I've stumbled upon is the

bottom = {	x = 15390 y = 2900 }

in the name.eug file. I undestand from the wiki modding guide that these coordinates limit the area that the player can scroll to, but I can't find any more information on these - which corner is (x=0,y=0), what is maximum for each coordinate and does x define east-west or north-south?

I hope someone can help me or like to another thread with this info (I looked a bit in this forum but I couldn't find anything).

i dont think those lines x and y even do any thing as we have added them into are battle scenario and we can scroll were ever we want on the main map and the miniture map but i think you still have to have those lines in the file but i dont think they do anything

I can't really give you the info you want here, but use showxy to determine the coordinates you need.

I've just removed the lines so that I can scroll freely, it would be a nice touch to limit scrolling a bit if my scenario ever gets done.

Okay, I pretty much managed to set up the map, victory conditions and troops, and I'm trying to add some events.

The thing is that I would like an event to trigger at a certain hour, not midnight on a certain day. Is that possible?

Push the F12 button , type showxy is shows xy postion in the bottom right corner.

Hehe writing battlescenarios is damn funny, I scipped two meals today because I had better things to do than eat :D

Okay, the project is comming on pretty nicely. I've done the provinces, about half the troops and a good deal of the events - I need more events, more units, AI and it should be ready.

I believe it will be more fun with more units so I decided to use regiments as the normal unit size in stead of the normal divison size. My regiments are normal divisons with max_strength 20-30. As I am also pretty focused on having the historical units and leaders present I've stumbled upon a problem. The historical leaders simply don't have high enough rank as they command 3-4 times as many regiments than they would have divisions. Does anyone have a good suggestion on what I could about this?

Another questioin: how many historical aircrafts is in a HoI2 air unit of 100% strengh? Would it differ from one type of air craft to another?

You can change the number of units a commander can control in the misc.txt file in the dd directory , but be careful if you are not useing the moddir it will change it for all of the scenarios.

IIRC 100 aircraft per unit.

Okay I've got a few more stupid questions now :D

I'm trying to do the .ai input files for the AI and undestanding how the air_marshal = {} works is giving me a bit of problems.

Sometimes the comments aren't all that helpful hehe:

# desirability is a multiplier used when calcualting the mission desirability

I'm interested in making the AI use the tactical bombers mainly for interdiction and otherwise for naval strikes.

Can I do this by setting desirability only?

Should desirability be low or high for the missions I want the AI to do?

Will I need to edit the taskforces as well? Making the AI put all bombers into a type of taskforce that will only interdiction/naval strike seems to be a good idea but I think the default task forces will be looming in the background and make the AI do, say ground attack, if I don't have my desirabilitys set correctly. Can anyone confirm this?

Hope some of you guys can help :)
