I have decided to edit this message, since the game has obviously already started. The purpose of this multiplayer group is to provide a way for new players or players who are not overly experienced to improve their skills. Veteran players are also welcome, as long as they play nice and don't try to annex all of Europe.

A player list can be seen at the bottom of this thread, and any players are welcome to jump into the game and take control of any contry that isn't listed. Don't be afraid! If you're looking for more of a causal experience, you can sign up to be a substitute.

For those who are just interested in reading about our progress, AARs and diplomacy can be found in this thread.

Game Info:

Game Version:
1.07(Feb 07 Beta)

Game Night (times are open to change each week)
Thursdays, 19:00 GMT.

Scenario
Peter E's 1520

Rules
1) No alliance may contain more than 3 player countries.
2) Please turn up at least 5 minutes before game start time and let me know if you can't.
3) Read this guide to MP.
4) Role playing is encouraged, but you don't have to. At least try to justify your actions or demands with a sensible reason. (ex: If you're Austria, and backstab your ally Spain, you need a good reason.)
5) No more than three regular provinces may be taken from a player-run country in any single war. Colonies/TPs count as half a province. If the AI is filling in for a player, then this rule will still apply. Take what you want from permenant AI countries.
6) If you can't make it to a game, please try to find your own sub, or let me know well in advance. I'll try my best to get you one, but no guarantees.
7) Let's not be too harsh on each other. Most of the people in this game are new-ish to MP, so don't give someone too much of a hard time if they do somthing stupid!
8) Use of pirates to fend off sea-based invasions is not allowed. (you may summon pirates ahead of time, but not as the invasion is taking place.)

Player/Country/ICQ Number List
Couche - Spain (210281771)
Vricklund - Ottoman Empire (168814661)
Sable Rose - Austria (297828318)
El Freako - England (213847998)
Casluerj- France (294204319)

NOTE: I will only be assigning countries via request from ICQ. Reason 1: It lets me know you are serious. Reason 2: It prevents fighting over countries like I've seen in other threads at this forum.

Hello. I have interest... I don't consider myself a newbie, but regarding MP games yes, I am. Only played three MP sessions of EU2, and they were quite some time ago, also not too funny the way they were... :p

ICQ: 74640110

We have two hours of difference, and since I'm on "semi-vacations", I'd be able to play at nights, but preferably friday or saturday nights.

Might I advise that you find a more experienced player to take on a harder role. I've found that the best way to learn is from making a mistake, and if there's someone playing that's not on equal standing with you you can learn a lot from them. There have been several attempts at newcomer games in the past (I avoid the term 'newbie') which needless to say did not turn out well because no one really knew what they were doing. :p

(Yes, yes, I know there have been some exceptions, but the point remains)

I'm interested. I've been playing SP for over a year now but haven't tried MP yet (though I've been reading through the MP Guides/Etiquette stuff/MP discussions to get a feel for it). I'm on EST and Fri. and Sat. nights would work for me too.

Thanks for the advice, but I've never been one to follow advice. :) I will try the game, see how it works out...

Alright, we have two players, and a good time so far seems to be Friday and Saturday night. That's fine for me as well, so I will update the first post accordingly.

you should plan for maximum interaction between players and have them all countries in the same area. if you only have a few players, having them play countries seperated continents apart, you'll wind up with a bunch of simultaneous SP games. then the game becomes a matter of beating up the AI and not worth the commitment for the long term.

1419 may not be the best start date either for MP, as it tends to produce fantastic results. Most of the grogs like PE's 1520 scenario for balance.

The latest beta (Feb 1), with the morale adjustments. I've been monitoring the bug forums, and it seems to be a stable patch.

Are the morale adjustments included in the Feb 1 beta or is it a separate download?

Oh, they are included. I just meant that using that patch is advisable because of the morale adjustments. The previous patches made moral a bit too important, so the latest one tweaks it down a bit.

If you get this going by next Saturday *and* you wouldn't mind to have a lurker in your game who could tell about some of the "tricks" and strategies available, then please contact me :) Perhaps I am not a newbie anymore, but I am usually civilized and don't jump on people :D

The times are alright with me. Would be at 0:30 for me, and 23:30 after early March.

Now, for countries... may I take the Ottoman Empire? :D

I'd like to try this out as I have never done this before. Country doesn't matter to me as I just want to enjoy the experience.

But let me make sure I can do this regularly. I'll let you know very very soon.

I'd like to do it too, I've never played any of the paradox games in MP before (although I've lurked here since before EU1 came out).

I'd like to take my native England if that's okay with everyone

Don't have ICQ or anything like that so contact me on my email address jon@chedgy.com using EU2 as subject.

I recently started a mixed newbie/experienced player game at Languish OT, currently starring Saskganesh among others, and I have a few pointers for you.

1. If the host has not tried hosting before, you must test your hosting capabilities (particularly numbers) and check port-opening.

2. All players who haven't played a Paradox game online before should read the guide to MP ports and check they can enter a hosted game well before the first arranged game time.

3. Make it very clear which patch you will use.

4. Make all players get ICQ. MSN is also acceptable but much worse, mainly because you cannot send messages to people who are offline. You need a messaging service for instant communication when rehosting. Email just doesn't cut the mustard.

Oh, and good luck. I would offer to sub, but if I'm not out enjoying myself at 0230 GMT, I intend to be in bed. :)
