newbie: how do I get to Domestic Policy sliders?

So, I've been reading the FAQs and discussions here. I've seen several (many) mentions of the "Domestic Policy" sliders, or DP sliders.

I saw a couple notes saying that I click on my nation's coat of arms, then click on the smaller coat of arms that appears to the left in that pane. At this point, I can click on the religious symbol on the right -- and get some sliders for religious tolerance -- but no amount of clicking on the small shield on the left will do anything for me.

So, what are the requirements for this to work?

Upper left corner of the main screen says: "EU 1.07c", which I assume is the version number. I'm running under Windows XP, home edition.

Domestic Policy sliders are available by clicking on the country shield in the top left hand frame on your screen. Click on that shield and the click on the smaller country shield on the new screen. That opens domestic policy sliders.

You called it a shield -- I called it a coat of arms. As I said in my post...I did that, or at least I think I did, except I didn't get any sliders displayed.

Unless you mean a different screen/shield from where there is also a religious, which being clicked, allows me to change my religious tolerances.

Maybe I needed to be clearer. I clicked the coat of arms / shield (say I'm England -- it has a big red cross on white background on it) and I get a display that includes (right to left) a smaller version of this image, a rank # with victory points below it, and a cross (religious symbol).

Was that the second shield you meant?

Cause, when I click on that (smaller) shield, nothing happens.

(Ok... the little hand tilts down, the little hand tilts back up -- but there is no change in the display.)

It should work this way:

If not, then there's probably something wrong with your installation or so. Try reinstalling. If that doesn't help, I don't know what will.

Tried it on my XP Media edition machine as well. (First XP Home Edition.)

Still nothing. If I move the mouse over the religious symbol -- I get a little hover-help type thing that tells me my current religion -- if I move it over the second (smaller) shield, nothing.

Hm...thought I'd download & install the 1.08 patch and try it -- but that leaves the game not loading at all for me.

Yup, that's exactly where I was clicking...and where I thought I was supposed to be clicking.

Hm... I'll try a re-install. Though, it is odd that it failed on two installations to two different machines. (Though, in both cases, I did chose to not install the default location... sometimes not going default is a problem...next uninstall everything, install to the default location.)

I appear to have EU, not EU II.

It looks the same, sounds the same, the manual even has a mention of Domestic Policies. But, that would appear to be an EU II feature.
