Hello, I just bought the game during Steam sale. I don't have much experience with this kind of game. So, is there any tips for new players like me so that I would be able to play and enjoy this game smoothly? Thanks.

Play whatever you feel you might like, start on Normal difficulty (or lower if you're really scared), and READ what people say, decisions are important in this game! Save often and in different slots.

Have a group that can deal with different problems. A tank to hold the line (Barrik is great, he has AoE taunts), a healer (Lantry is great) and 2 damage dealers, I think it's best to have 1 melee and 1 archer or mage.

Be ready to adapt, for example against Bane type enemies you will need to change your tactics, they are very dangerous! Maybe you'll want to take a mage that can do bonus damage to them or a certain performer who has just the right song for Bane.

The game is designed to be played multiple times. It is not super long, so plan to try out different options later on. With 6 companions, you can do a run with one set, and then next time play with the other 3 for a different experience.
Try out one alliance, then a different one etc.
Dont stress too much about getting the first run perfect - just talk to everyone and explore and then try other options next time.

1. This twiki has some pretty useful info (I think some of the dev wrote some articles, e.g. the one about Combat mechanics): http://www.tyrannygamewiki.com
2. The more skills you use (aka get point to, even if only in character creation), the less experience gain per skill, since quest-exp is divided amongst skills-in-which-the-character-used/gained exp/gained points-at-least-once. Hence you want to pick 1-3 magic schools per character and 1-2 fighting styles (mostly 1 for main character and mages) if you want to optimize.
3. Most of the Sigils can be obtained in only one way, a minority of them can be found in 2-3 places. I think there are a couple of places where you can get a random sigil but I'm not sure. Moral of the story: if you wanna run mages, you better explore everything (the game is short anyway).
