New to the game and have run into question I can't find an answer to.

A Bishop of mine rebelled. I sieged his holding (church) and won. Game then said I was occupying my own county. Messed around a bit and found I could offer peace to my Bishop, but the best I could do was a white peace (meaning he keeps is holding and I lose 100 prestige). No further battle was available in the county.

Is a white peace the best you can do with rebels? Is this a design feature?

Second question:
I started with Dublin in my second game and immidiately set elective succession. I have a string of constant headaches (intrigue) since. Is using elective generally a bad idea or do you just have to deal with this if you want the vassal bonous?

That's weird. If you occupy all of his holdings and he has no army, you should have a 100% warscore and should be able to enforce a surrender.

Elective succession seems to be considered the best succession by many people here. My experience with it isn't so great, as the vassals often don't seem to vote your way even if they're at +100 relations and not likely to get the title themselves. If you can imprison everyone, you can freely choose your heir, but that's gamey and also quite impractical.
