New year, New Expansions!

So, with 2018 freshly started and a new developer diary most likely inbound tomorrow; what are you guys hoping for? Which region(s) might get an update? What kinds of flavor/mechanics are you hoping for? How many DLC's might we see this year? Are Immersion Packs still going to be a thing or not? Things you want to be different, or the same?

Personally? I'm hoping for an in-depth redrawal of some parts of Europe or maybe India. Some mechanics to make the late-game more dynamic and lots of events that make regional gameplay more interesting.

HRE needs an update, I'm quite shocked that Ulm doesn't even have an idea set of it's own yet. Making unique ideas for all the countries in the HRE (and the Indian nations) would be nice.

I wish they do something in Europe.
Something to balance the power of different countries. Its sad to see each game iberia to be a total mess or Poland be eaten by TO and Bohemia.
Really i havent seen commonwealth in last ten games to form different way than to do it myself. I am starting to think it might be impossible for AI. Each time Noble rebel spawns in Lithuania Poland do nothing to kill them.
Fall of Poland and Iberia in some way ruins gameplay. I know it doesnt have to be historically correct each time but regular outcome without player intervention should be similar.
I always thought of eu as a game where i can change history or be a part of it rather than watch each time a completly random history.
When marocco eats iberia Its a nice thing but not to see it in 2 of 3 games. As for Poland they were historically a buffer state between Russia Sweden and ottos. They declined at one point but not in first 50-ty years. If they are gone their neighbors take advantage of that and ruin some flavor.
Also i would love to see something that would revard tall playing. Right now game mostly runs on one idea Blob as much as you can and thats all. Its shame to admit but most of my games end around 1600/1650 when i bacame the strongest nation and do whatever i want, dont have any allies because i dont need them and get bored.
For example as low developed and overblobed country Austro-Hungary was a multicultural nation with many problems. Low morale of armies, corruption etc. All those Nations within it didnt seen it as worth of dying for. They seen it rather as an oppresor.
Maybye countries with many different cultures should get morale penalty and yearly corruption? On the other hand there were countries like Prussia that where a definition of playing tall with strong economy and powerfull army.

North Africa would also have been on the list, but Trin said just before Christmas that he'd love to work on it sometime, so I guess it's not this time.

I would like a DLC for India, that is basically the only region that hasn't got much extra stuff since the game was launched back in 2013. Otherwise the dynasty system needs some rework, but I know that @Johan already knows this. Last year was a good year for EU4, I liked the idea of an immersion pack for Russia.

A full HRE rework with political events and such, allowing nations outside the HRE to have some influence in the HRE- for a more political game for many nations.

Full HRE revamp. I don't know that the HRE has changed since the game released.

Hopefully some France changes(more provinces, bring back the french minors, also, some of the "French" land was only nominally under the control of the French king, iirc.) Maybe England can get a revamp as well, so we can get a better HYW, War of the Roses, and English Civil War.

An India revamp would be desirable, as well. It's one of my favorite areas.

Full rework of the HRE together with more stuff and meddle for (and between) the HRE, France, England and Burgundy. Iberia and Italy could also get some new provinces. And flesh out events like the Burgundian Inheritance and the Shadow Kingdom. It feels weird, that such important events are just... (unfluencal) RNG style events (BI) or fixed events (SK, all leaving everytime).

I have 3 major ones

1) As everyone stated, HRE update, but also a map update to Austria's starting position that reflects Frederick V was regent over Austria at game start, not direct ruler (he ruled Styria which merged with Austria when Ladislaus died.

2) Iberian/Colonial update, adding new provinces in France, Birtian, and Iberia, adding French minors, and reworking the mechanics of colonialization and trade companies as well as updating the relevant idea groups.

3) Religion update targeted at the mechanically light religions- namely Judaism, Zoroastrianism, Sihkism, and Animism. Also update to various other religions, especially the Buddhists.

Europe and the Americas are a massive mess right now. The Americas had two DLCs dedicated to them and yet most of the features in them are either bad and rushed (native advancements), really broken (RNW) or boring (reforming society). But it's justifiable since they're mostly colonial fodder.

Europe, though... Provinces in Spain look awfully blobby and poor, the HRE could have a lot more nations and flavor (and formables - Pomerania and Silesia being formable tags with new minors replacing them sounds a lot better), the Balkans look like they're have a nationalistic face-off on who gets the absolute worst looking province shapes...

France is mostly fine, IMO. The HRE could use some love, because it's been a while since they touched it, and there's definite room for improvement, especially in regards to Austria.
Other than that, India also hasn't gotten love in a while. North Africa and the Balkans too.

I forgot- the Iberian wedding should be expanded to both let it swing either way (as in Aragon could get the PU over Castile in some cases) or favor Portugal (historically reasonable) or even Navarra (and Navarra should have more events dealing with its succession and the potential of inheriting Aragon)

Aragon already gets the wedding PU over Castille sometimes (rarely).

It was quite a long time since southeastern asia received anything more substantial, than a new set of ideas. The indonesian area getting more tags and something like a "Merchant kingdom" special government could be nice, but it is still pretty decent as it is. From Europe, perhaps Iberia and France
So for me, in order of importance:
1) Southeastern asia
2) India
3) Balkans
4) Iberia/France

Also, natives, because their gamepley is kinda meh

As for mechanics, i hope for some alternative to uncontrollable lategame blobbing with Absolutism, taking entire regions in a single war. Expanded republics' mechanics. perhaps?
