Honestly haven’t looked at any of these videos, I start looking at tutorials only when I start getting frustrated not understanding how a game mechanic works (ex: cities Skylines tutorials I watched were mostly about traffic control).
That being said I find it kind of disappointing that for the release of this DLC on consoles you guys still didn’t want to use the console version for the “official” tutorials. Three videos, all under three minutes so I’m gonna guess it’s not even more than a presentation of most features. I’ll admit that most viewers won’t even see the difference but to me it feels... weak? Dishonest? I’m not sure how to describe it. Kind of like you guys didn’t trust the “basic” console version for three short videos presenting your product. I’m not saying it’s the end of the work or even really bad... it just kind of leaves a bad taste realizing you don’t trust your product to sell itself on console...
Totally understand where you're coming from, and I appreciate the feedback!
I made the call to use PC over console, and here's the primary reason: PS4 and Xbox One don't have pre-release versions or beta branches that we can use to create content with. Unlike on PC where we can literally update a beta branch any day we want to... Console versions have to go through a validation phase, and Dev Kits are under very tight restrictions and can't leave our office, therefore our only option would be to bring somebody to Stockholm and have them film the entire thing here. That's about a 4-5 day trip, which is asking a lot for a YouTuber (Sam Bur lives in Australia!). Alternatively, we could have had them film after Green Cities went live... but that meant the tutorials would've gone up a week after launch which didn't feel right.
So with everybody just getting back to work from the holidays, I found myself in a circumstance where we didn't have time to plan for someone to fly into the office and film on console. So we did our best to use a PC player that made sure to keep in mind that console players would be the main audience. Not ideal, but it was the best solution we could do in a short time.
I am trying to find more influencers that are interested in playing on Xbox and PS4 and creating content from that. It's... hard, to be transparent. I continue to work hard and am gathering a group of more people to provide console-specific content, but it's taken me some time to get that ready =)
Hope that's understandable to you, and feels like an explanation rather than an excuse. Again, I appreciate the feedback!
