Ladies and gentlemen,

Introducing the 3D model for the Slava class cruiser, a unique ship model with its characteristic 8x2 Bazalt missile launchers.

Slava_class_cruiser_maya_RED.jpg

The P-500 Bazalt (NATO calling name “Sandbox”) anti-ship missile carries one ton of high explosives up to 550 km (340 mi) at twice the speed of sound. You don’t want to be there when it hits!

What I meant by thoughts on armament I was wondering if you had ruled out the P-1000 Vulkan which is used on 2 of the 3 Slavas currently in service.
It is even more lethal by having the same 1000kg warhead but it is faster (Mach 2.2-2,8 closing speed), have longer range (700km) and uses titanium armouring (to resist CIWS and reduce weight).
The russians calculated that it would require 3 hits of´em to sink a Nimitz-class carrier.

I didn't know about that missile, Carlos. We'll have them with Bazalts, obviously, but it is an interesting alternative.

No offence, but I dont really understand why its obvious that it would have Bazalts when the majority of the ships in the class have the Vulkans.

in janes f/a-18 it takes anywhere from 1-8 f/a-18s to take it out. i hope this game is not to different then janes lol.
A Super Hornet can carry how many Harpoons? Two or four? It depends a lot on the AEW supporting the Slava, but I don't give four to eight Harpoons much of a chance against a battery of S-300s (plus the point defense). More than that, you will have a decent chance to get some through.

The Slava is unlikely to be alone, though. I have seen a three ship task force take out 44 Harpoons in NWAC the way it is currently working.

I didn't know that. So Varyag and Ustinov have Vulkans?

Close but no cigar, the Moskva and the Varyag have them (and the Ukraina/Admiral Lobov was supposed to have them) but the Marshal Ustinov still has the Bazalts.
But I think its unlikely that it will still have them by 2030.

Source:http://military.tomsk.ru/blog/topic-390.html Also in the pics I posted of the Moskva you can clearly see the Vulkans in their launchers.

Just find a decent translator and you will be able to make out the essentials.
The primary target for the missile is still ships and it has pretty much the same task as the Bazalt,it just happens to have inertial guidance.
I hope this makes you consider having this newer missile as it would raise both the realism and awesomeness bar (titanium armour and max speed of M 2.8);).

well maxed out you can have 8 super horents eaching carrying 2 aim-120s 2 aim-9x a centerline ful tank 4 harpoons and 2 harrms. send in the harms followed by the harpoons and hope they dont get shoot down.

Very nice model. I have always liked the look of Russian ships. But during the cold war when all their stuff was top secret and books were rare that could give any reliable info on them. Thus having no really looked at a book that details Russian ships and compares their capabilities in a non-propagandist way I really have no idea how effective the old Russian war horses we were so afraid of are.
