Hi everyone,

First time posting but over 1000 hours play. I cant understand what is going on on this trade node. I am Ottoman, i have over 97% of trade power in Aleppo. The text says i trade 10.86 to Constantinople, but it doesnt work at all like that. I watched over the map and there seems to be other cases where the money doesnt go where the text says.

Any idea why? Thanks a lot.

raw trade vs boni worked in, but those displays are wonky anyways and only good for approximations. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't.

I changed the picture to make it less confusing. Maybe you looked at Egypt instead of Aleppo. It says 10.86 to Constantinople but in reality its 4.33. The difference seems huge. And as i said other places on the map there seems to be steering in the other direction that what i am suppose to.

Does it still make sense for you? Thanks

You should place a merchant in Aleppo to utilize that trade power of yours. You need a merchant to steer trade towards the direction you want if there are more than one downstream node.

Trade works in three steps:

1. Determine what stays and what goes out. Your trade power determines whether something stays or gets steered out.
2. Determine where what gets steered goes out. When there's more than one way out, only nations with a merchant get to have a say on this - the total being based on their respective trade power. Here, for instance, Venice steers 2.4 / (2.6 + 2.4 + 2.0) of the total value.
3. Add bonus ducats based on merchants steering trade forward. The more merchants are steering trade, the merrier.

Ergo, throw in a merchant. Right now, steering is decided by the other three nations, with only Venice doing so towards Constantinople. (Consider yourself lucky it does, too, because it would likely be better for Venice to steer through Alexandria, if only to deny you ducats.)

Tl;dr, your trade power is pushing those 10 ducats downstream from Aleppo, but since you don't have a merchant placed there, you aren't using your trade power to push it in the desired direction.
