Re: Vassalization

According to the manual, to offer vassalization you must have 190+ relations and the same state religion. In addition, the Diplomacy menu tooltip states that you also must have a Royal Marriage and be part of the same Alliance. In the game I am playing as Pskov (my eternal, first learning game) my state religion is Orthodox. I have one vassal already (Moldovia) and have an alliance, a Royal Marriage, and a 200 Relations rating with Hungary. Even though Hungary is Catholic I am allowed to offer them Vassalization. Yet they always refuse. I loaded the game at the same spot 15 times to see if it was just randomness yet they never accepted, even at +200 Relations. Is this because they are Catholic? If so, why am I allowed to spend a diplomat offering them Vassalization when it's against the rules? Can someone look into this and see what's going on? I'll maintain a save game so that someone can test if they want to.

I think your country also has to be bigger than the one you are trying to vassalize. Can someone else confirm or deny this?

Confirmed, was added in 1.07C IIRC.

Bigger?

hi,
And how bigger? I mean I've got the problem playing Astrakhan and trying to vassalise the golden horde. I own 7 territories and they own 4 and it's not enought... So is it a question of ratio or what? I need to be twice bigger and I should go for an extra territory?
TIA

I bought the game almost two weeks ago and have been playing almost non-stop ever since (4-14 hrs a day, every day). Great game !!!

However, I'd like to comment on item 25 on the bug list, i.e. the lifespan of random leaders in British version 1.07c: I have received random explorers/conquistadors four times while playing either Sweden or Prussia in Grand Campaign(s).and each and every time the said specialist has died within a month of his arrival!!! Usually they couldn't even leave the port before dropping dead. So they are far from being immortal, the buggers seem to be keen on quitting the world as soon as possible. If this had happened only once I would have chalked it up on bad luck, but four times...there's got to be something wrong.

But on the whole it's an excellent, excellent game.. just be sure to fix this bug in the 1.08 patch.

Cheers,
H.

And how bigger?

As I understood it, you need at least 1 more province to even be able to annex another country diplomatically. However there are a lot of other things working toghether to create the final % chance. Paradox is silent, but for certain, relative military & stability strenght as well as a monarch good in DIP playes major roles in it.

Bug #31 Not Observed, Rebels Lose

I have not found the mentioned problem while running the US version of the product.

I am playing Hard/Agressive settings as England. While experience some domestic religous problems rebellions have begun with my army present. In all cases I recall the rebels were defeated.

Siege bug

New and extremely bad siege bug (I'm surprised I haven't noticed this before).

Each time an assault is beaten back, a siege roll occurs afterward (i.e., the cannon fires). This can be exploited for the old blitzkrieg effect - basically you can declare an assault, break it off (siege roll), declare an assault, break it off (siege roll), etc., etc.

End result: In 30 days you can have an equivalent number of siege rolls comparable to the number in a siege lasting 10-15 months. Even if the siege rolls are not so effective (due to the short siege period), this can easily be used to blast through most fortresses in 1-2 months provided you have cannons enough.

This should be fixed.

A quick and dirty fix (but probably effective) would be to reduce the siege roll immediately after a siege, so that this form of cheating has little effect.

And I thought I was suggesting a quick and dirty fix.

Not sure if I like the idea of not being able to call of an assault. The combat algorithm is too damn random for my taste - and after all, there can be perfectly valid reasons why one would want to call of an attack. Hmm. :(

Well, I guess its better than no fix.
