True. But Canada wasn't granted dominion status before 1867 IIRC.

Before 1763 "Quebec" was Quebec city and "Canada" was the modern Quebec (and more or less identical with "New France"). The use of the name "Quebec" to refer to a colony/province/nation, rather than just the city originated with the Royal Proclamation of 1763.

Your history books differ from mine.

However, This debate is not what Johan requested in this thread, and I appologize for steering it in the wrong direction.

So lets get back to tag suggestions please.
