I always toggle the Hunt for the seven cities button as soon as I land on the Americas. If I am not mistaken, success should depend on exploration, so there is only a chance of a discovery if there is any Terra Incognita left. And there is supposed to be plenty of Terra Incognita in the New World.
However, in my new 1.15 game (no random new world), as soon as I created my first colony in Brazil as Castile (1501), a huge spread of discovery revealed all colonial Colombia and Brazil at once. And I was left wondering: how will this affect my search for the mythical cities of gold?
Well, I am not sure if this is working as intended, as I know that the spread of discovery mechanic has changed in this last patch. If it is, it would be a dissapointment, as I always thought that the fun part of playing a colonial nation was slowly and painfully exploring the new world, racing against all other colonial nations for every piece of land. And the search for nice cities full of gold and silver, as well.
Has anyone else experienced this with the new patch?
