There's a brilliant mod which adds exactly this.

Yeah, I know. But in this kind of things, I absolutely prefer stock style. I'm already bothered by the inconsistencies in stock civic and icon traits between DLCs... So, I literally can't stand a "custom" specie, because no mather what they do, it will always show a clear difference against vanilla species.

Also, I generally love my games (Skyrim, Cities Skylines... I even made mods myself for Starbound), but one thing I love even more, are Achievements. Those meaningless medals that says "Hey! Congrats! You probably did this thing!". So, I can't help playing Ironman mode.

Being's of pure energy?
Sentient Rocks!?
Sentient Liquid :p

You could even have some unique traits to go with them like the robots.

I know this sounds like half a joke but I mean why not?

Since we didn't get a specifies in mega-corp aren't we overdue for another species pack?

Also space rats ad slime would be awesome

Well, Megacorp was a big DLC+Update, so the next DLC will be small. So, a Story Pack or a Portrait/Species pack.

I hope for a Portrait/Species pack. Not only because it will be cool, but also because it's mostly artistic work, so the developers can be more focused on Bug Fixes, Preformance Improvement, Balance and Quality of Life changes.

I'd like to see mammalian species portraits expanded. It would be nice to see Wolf, Bear, Elephant, Giraffe, etc. portraits or something that can resemble these things if you squint your eyes.

Silicoid would be good, because new shipset. If they add other mamals, well, good, but no new ship.

Also, space unicorns.
I have to agree with the Otter supremacist. Aren't Silicoids just slightly different variations of Rock Creatures? Not that having both of them wouldn't be fine, but how are Silicoids actually different?

Living rocks, yes. There aren't now in the game (except a very good mod). So this is a brand new branch of living creature. Could be even new mechanics, like consuming minerals instead of food or energy. And rocky spaceships maybe?

We don't have something similar in the basegame. Otter can be modded easily, it's just reskined mamals.

Of course, we still wait space unicorns first, @Wiz .

The mechanics would obviously be harder to mod, though maybe it's possible.

For the portraits however, it would take about the same amount of effort to make otter portraits as it would to make living rock or silicoid portraits,
