Hello everyone,

Twelve days ago, a malfunction on our servers started to prevent new players to create their account to access our online services. It was followed by a complete crash of our servers, making online play impossible for 48 hours. This was due to the simultaneous and sudden death of both the hard drives containing the databases.

This was the first time, since the release of Wargame: European Escalation in 2012, we were experiencing such a serious breakdown.

We have switched our servers and our online services to a new, more stable architecture.

We also are changing the way friend list are managed on Steam, Steel Division: Normandy 44 will now use the Steam Friend List system. To do so, we had to reinitiate the friend list, and a few of you might have to complete your friend list by adding them on Steam. The system will be improved in the coming days.

There will be a short server maintenance tomorrow at 10AM CEST to switch to this new friend list system.

We would like to thank you all for your support, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

Eugen Systems

Hi Eug-Papayankee,

Does that mean some data was lost ?
Cause there was trouble with stats not being updated way before the crash, i'm not sure everything was related to it.

Thank you.

Repeat after me. "RAID is not a backup".
I love it how Eugen think we're stupid.
"This was due to the simultaneous and sudden death of both the hard drives containing the databases."
They write this as if no one could have foreseen or planned for this possibility. No excuses.

Wow, that's one massive failure for servers. o_O

Already saw that it is working full steam again, just dropping by to say thanks.

I don't know what is more retarded, the fact that a company sells you a game and then loses all data of your friends or the fact that the same company then comes and tells you "oh we have fixed it for you, go and search for all your friends on steam"!!! This is near a complete joke, do you even realize that the steam nickname most likely isn't the same as the ingame nick? Besides the fact that people most likely have not written down the 60 friends they have been playing over time? Funny when the op says some have to "complete" the friend list. WTH? I don't have a single friend shown, so what you mean with "complete"?

OMG, Eugen! I know Paradox is one hell of a shitty company (see HOI IV for example) but you topped it just right now. And then you wonder why this game goes down the drain like the worst release ever. Really big fail, Eugen.
