Well my two cents worth, I cant help myself
The editing of minors in my opinion should not be done unless there is some form of bug, ghost fleets, vanished units and so on.
Minor nations never built there militaries to a grand strategy of the leader of there alliance. While Germany might need more troops, the minor nation has its own defence as its core issue in real life. Editing in long serials of infantry, armour or aircraft is unrealistic.
Part of the fun of having minors is seeing what they build. Often there not front line units but even crappy interceptors can patrol some area and shoot down bombers, cav or garrisions good for defending low risks areas and partisians, even crap tanks can help support beach defences or be bought by Germany and upgraded if you wanted to.
I think this editing thing has grown since people started editing in units for nationalist china. Its gone to far, not even china should have edited in units, you just accept what they build.
As for me playing Hoi agian, Yes I plan to play again when im back from holidays. I will be back around mid Feburary so perhaps you guys should just play out your current games, give the big games a rest for a month and start a big good game then. Im sure major will join in as he cant refuse getting a belting by me
AGAIN.
A few suggestions though.
1. Isnt it in our rules that Japan must join the Axis, declear war on both the USA, UK. I thought that was set in stone to avoid what happened this time. I dont agree with Japan joining the Soviets, no matter how bad the axis were doing. If a Japan player had an balls
he would join in and save the day.
2. I agree there should be no reloads if Germany or any other nation makes a big mistake. Its happened to me, big risks to win the war or defeat thats the way it goes. The same said for the USSR or if the UK is succesfully invaded early on.
We must move past this point were one nation is defeat the game is over, it isnt. It may be tough but far from over and a long drawn out game into the 1950's would be great. At worst if your nation is basicaly annexed then you co-op with some one else or take over a minor until it is liberated.
3. Seperate Peace deals. I am guilty of this in the past as well to extend games. In hind sight all it ends up doing is runining games when they could have moved on to another part of the game, IE WWIII or the Cold war. While WWII is going there should be no seperate peace deals by anyone unless via event, all surrender events should be accepted by human players. We play by general historical rules and should accept historical outcomes for surrender if the conditions are ment. Wether you still have 500 divisions in the field is irrelvant if you failed to defend your nation from the surrender conditions as it punishes the succesful side for meeting those conditions and basing there entire game around achieveing them.
4. Enforced sides. None of this Japan joining Allies or communists. All sides should be set to historical alliances. Minors or course who are not in either camp or part of any NAP agreements can join any side.
If we abide by these additions to our rules, games should run alot longger. We have all played to gether for long enough to know we all want the same thing. A good long game, lots of battles and fun. Wether Ive won or lost on the east front, in africa and so on it has been so intense at times your sitting there with sweat dripping off you. When the session ends you think thank F%#K that is over you need a rest. That is the type of game i like.
I look forward to playing Germany again and either being master of the Greater 3rd Reich or Chancelor of Western Germany or Eastern depending who gives me the best deal. But im betting on a 3rd Reich if you dont mind. I got some new strategies ive been fine tunning,
.
P.S Get over your self stalin, you abandoned gunny in his hour of need, if yo were my ally I would come over to tokoyo and hand you myself. Traitorist swine. Dont you dare and backstab me.
