Hi everyone, got the game a couple days ago and now I wonder why I ignored it so far. I'm totally hooked.
Oh, and great forum. I LOVE all the AARs.

Anyway, first game as Italy (my country, so please ignore grammar/spelling mistakes) and I think it's going decently well. 1936 start, annexed Ethiopia in the first days of March and then I joined the Spanish civil war, capturing 5 provinces on the W Med coast. Franco actually captured almost everything while I was still shipping my units, so I just signed peace with Rep Spain in mid november.

Now at this stage I'm just researching stuff and building factories to unlock the 5th research slot, so I set the game at max speed. Then a few months later I see Dissent over 8%, growing at +0.4 per day, forcing me in this situation:

And with the slider that high I'm only able to lower dissent by 0.01 per day, so it will take forever. Prod is almost stopped, no supplies, no nothing.
So I'd really like to know WHY the dissent skyrocketed like that.
Something to do with the peace with Rep Spain or the high partisan activity in some of their provinces?
I know I took a dissent hit when I declared, but I fixed it back to 0 very quickly.

And another question. This really pisses me off to no end. Why, in a totally static situation (no wars, no unit movement, nothing), there are such huge fluctuation in supplies? I mean, today they need 15 supplies, tomorrow they want 30. Same for stuff like oil or energy, but the main issue are supplies.

Thanks in advance.

The dissent you got was probably from DOWing (Declaring War On) Rep. Spain. Have you made any slider moves to Authoritarian or Interventionism? If so, that could seriously help you when it comes to Declaring War and dissent. I'd move Cons. Goods back down a lot more, to maybe 20 or so, if you're at 46 and still only getting 0.01 cut off then going back down 20 won't hurt. Also try trading with your northern friend (Germany) for supplies, energy, and rares.

Good Luck!

No, I got some dissent when I declared vs Spain, but pushed it to 0 again very quickly.
I think I'll just reload to see exactly when it rises again.

Another question: why don't I have the the auto control window for the sliders described HERE? Was it added with some expansion?

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I do believe your Dissent problems are caused by not having enough supplies for your army. Move your supply slider enough to make sure you are producing a positive amount (Or trade for them from other nations). Then wait one in game day for the changes to come into effect. After that you shouldn't be seeing such sharp increases in dissent, and the dissent decreases should come into effect from having so much allotted to consumer goods.

Yep, It's supplies indeed. You are out of them so dissent will grow. I also recommend to start trading all of those other resources as without them your industry will have all the factories but it won't be able to work 'cause of the lack of the resources.

1) Stop constructing everything by setting the "Production" slider gets to 0.00
2) Turn the "Supplies" slider to at least 5.00
3) Make a trade deal in which you give supplies and money for 20 energy , 10 metal and 2-3 oil.
4) Turn your "Reinforcements" slider to as much as you can afford.
5) When your dissent falls to 0.00 and you have enough energy for your factories not to shut down, you can set your "Production" slider to as much as you can afford. ;)
