there is another way
switch to relational map mode ( i use that most of the time )
make sure one of your provinces is selected or click on your coat of arms
then zoom out all the way using the buttons in the corners of the map
the province you are at war with will be shown in red
keep in mind that provinces at the edges of the map cant really be seen when zoomed out all the way so if you still cant find the province zoom in and look around the edges of the map

i have a little question too: im planning on buying CK complete via gamersgate but before that i wanted to know if you can play the kingdom/duchy of galicia from the beginning of the grand campaign? i know that it was a seperate kingdom until 1230 though not independent anymore since ~1060 (personal union)...

thanks in advance!

I am pretty sure it is playable from 1066 ... if it is not independent, then you'll just start as a vassal.

The best way is to click on thier shield that is on the notification pop-up.
If you have closed that then you can press the ? key to open the province finder and type the province name. Sadly you can't search for Duchy/Kingdom names. ESC key exits the province finder btw.

Yes you can ... you can search on titles too, but only if they are his primary title. You just need to spell out the entire title, f.x. "Kingdom of Leon", or "Principality of Ryazan" or "Shiekdom of Alexandria"

thanks! ive read somewhere that they have been removed for gameplay reasons with an older patch, but that might have been braga/portugal.

If it is not pagan/muslim, and a feudal realm, then it is playable :)

I have two screenshots for you ;) .... first is the selection screen at the start, where I can select the Duchy of Galicia. The second is from the game. All the round shields are muslims and are thus unplayable. All the other shields represent rulers you can start play as (in that area).

I was about to create a new thread, but this could probably go here. I'm not a new player by any means, but I've started playing this game again for the first time in years so I may as well be a new player...

1. Do you all grant titles to any of your sons? I can perhaps understand the eldest son - although I don't like losing control over my heir and his children - because when he inherits the throne his title will be reincorporated and come back to my control. As for any other sons, won't this just fragment my demesne? At the same time I stand to lose prestige because of my sons being without land of their own. What is the best way to deal with this situation?

2. Can someone explain to me how fostering works? I vaguely understand how education works and that results are based on the stats of the parents and the relevant adviser - please correct me if my understanding is off base. If I send a child to another court, do they use the stats of their 'foster parents' and the advisers in that court instead?

Welcome back :)

1) Depends. If I have land to spare, then I usually grant some of it to sons. But of course if you have 8 sons, that is not always possible. As long as your other sons stay as vassals under your rule, they will stay so when the oldest inherit. Also giving the heir titles, will usually ensure that he has some prestige when he takes over, instead of you starting from 0 again.

2) As far as I know, parent stats have little to no influence on education of the kids. If they take a martial education, the education level of the Marshal will have an effect if his DIP stat is over 7. If you send them to another court, he/she will have an influence on them. But I think someone once found that it was only at the end of the education that it is calculated. So you could have a child in the care of El Cid (with something like 23 Martial) for 8 years, only to have him die 2 weeks before the son ended his martial training, and instead of El Cid and old git with 4 Marshal takes over. Then it is the 4 Marshal teacher that effects his education level .... IF I remember this correctly. Veld might know more precisely how it is :)

Yes, the complete pack online should give you the code. I think it was the boxed set of CK Complete that came without the serial code :)
