So I am a new player and I wonder if anyone has noticed that in the game NPCs in the street are wearing face masks, is this covid related? or is there something lore/game wise that I missed.

Don't take me wrong I love that little detail.

Stay Safe everyone!.

In 1918 there was a flu pandemic in the USA but they weren't required to wear masks in the 1920s as I believe that pandemic had mostly run its course?

In the game though, I'd always assumed it was just a cheap way for gangsters to hide their faces and remain anonymous. Oh, that or most of the folks wearing masks are actually the doctor class in the game. It's a good way to distinguish them, I like to take them out before they heal their friends. ;)

I very very very doubt it's anything to do with COVID being that the game is set in 1920.

Thanks for the response.

Regardless of the time the game is set, I thought of COVID because many games I saw them adding to certain characters skins for masked chars and they said it was covid and there was no time setting.

It is good to know that in the 20s there was a pandemic, I didn't know about it. thanks!

Two things can be true, it could be a nod to the Spanish Flu epidemic that Chinese laborers carried through Canada into Europe during WWI; and a nod to a pandemic where we are once again wearing a mask because of a flu originating in China. And I live in a city that is about to undergo its Fourth Wave, it is a real thing.

So, yeah, I see a wink.
