It is my first game, Rome with laterst patch (I hope) but no VV because I get some error.
474 as Rome. In 6 years I fought Epirus And Magna Grecia, Invaded Ilyria to get foothold on Balcans, had first Punic war in order to block Carthages colonisation of Iberia, established 2 colonies in Northern italy and performed a few punitive campaigns against barbarians to catch slaves.
During that time 2 provinces: Rome and Etruria lost about 15 population plus whatever they got from captured slaves and growth (grain and sometimes 5% omen, when omen failed I reloaded- I know, it is lame
)
(other cities did not grow as expected, but did not lose so much) - for rome it is 25% loss, for Etruria it is 60% loss !!! (from initial 25 to 11 now)
What happened to my population? According to the manual creating colony uses 3 people so say I know what happened to 6 of them.
I checked that creating cohort do not change it so the only possible explanation is that reinforcements has eaten my population! While might be possible because Etruria fielded 24 heavy infantry cohorts, it does not seem reasonable to me.
With Rome matter is different because I have build only 6 units in Rome, however I think that initial triemes have Rome as home province (although they did not suffer much combat losses, they had once suffered 50% attrition while sailing back rom they Heracle pillars).
Can anyone confirm that it is battles and attrition what killed so much of my population? (I had no enemy nor revolts on my soil (well, at least not in Rome and Etruria) all that time)
Does it mean that to capture some slaves I might suffer greater losses? Will building mecenaries help so I will not lose so many people (except of Etruria, because all initial heavies are from there)
