Hm, I'll modify what seems to be a common voice and say a game starting in '45 and ending sometime in the late 90's would be amazing. However, I'm far more interested in the period as a market simulation than as a geopolitical simulation. It would be amazing to play a game that could properly simulate the rise of the Asian Tigers, for instance, and then follow through with a completely in-engine simulation of the subsequent economic contagion.
Something sort of Vicky-esque, I guess, but with a lot more emphasis on the capital and value side of things, which is something that Vicky sadly lacks. No matter how much people complain about Vicky's economic system being too 'complex', it's still incredibly primitive and pretty incapable of handling any sort of complex economy. Of course, eliminating a lot of the micro-management is important, as most economies aren't really micro-managed IRL, either. Naturally, though, if such a game did come about it would be...interesting to play the Soviets or any other centrally planned economy.
EDIT: And before I scare anybody with this talk of micro-management, I mean to imply that the game needs more complexity that occurs behind the scenes, as it were. Stuff that's hard-coded to properly model an economy and more realistic player inputs.
