Crappy session. Turenne died ruined all my plans. :( :p

Thanks to Boris for subbing. :)

Now... it seems that Sir Jakop's connection is ruined for good, so I'll try to find a new perm for Sweden...

But at least we still have PJL in Netherlands, that's good.

Re the war, I will compromise and merely demand just 3 islands in this war, Buru, Ceram, and Tindore. I was oringally going to ask for those plus Luzon, Wangharei and Tahiti. I think this is fair enough considering the length and expenses I have gone through in this war.i

Disastrous session for Persia mainly due to being AI for the first years. When I got to play the AI had moved maintenance to 100% and built some 130-150k soldiers paying 89d per month in maintenance. God riddance! Normal maintenance cost for me is 8-9d per month. God knows for how long that had been going on. How many years did you play before I got in? The starting save was from 1654 and I think I got in around 1658. Say 4 years?

Besides the more than 100k men I had to disband (costing 3d per 1000, say 390d to build) this maintenance affair is just sicko. Say he built them at a steady speed. Then the average extra cost for maintenance during these 4 years was 48 months times 40d = 1920d.

I humbly ask for 1920+390=2310d, say 2300d, added to infra investment, which is where I would have put them had I played.

I can accept the attrited ships, the lost trade and the little inflation incurred (the AI had some minting going on as well), but not the horrendous maintenance costs and soldiers built and disbanded.

I consider myself rather innocent as to the unability to join. Hive knows exactly why my version wasn't compatible.

Persia probably needs a sub next session. A peaceful little nation. Nothing for warhungry maniacs.

It's a union meeting I prolly have to attend.

My ICQ is in my sig if anyone volunteers. Newbies are OK (for me).

I'm sorry, but I won't want to risk having to go Sweden AI for a 3rd session in a row.

You have untill monday. I suggest you do a throrough spyware search and virusscan.

As I explained earlier today, I'm tired of all these edits just because AI spent a few ducats. This will not be edited.

And frankly, I think it is your own fault about the installation. You simply didn't read my posts carefully enough. Everyone else got it right (except Cheech who was in doubt - but he asked about it to be sure).

Also, I find it very odd that Tonio hadn't bothered to install the patches untill right at the time we where supposed to start. Boris can be excused since he was only a sub, but Tonio ought to be more responsible. Shame on you, Tonio!

Good session for the Ottomans. Our experiment with free trade finally reaped rewards, and Ottoman merchants can now be found at nearly every centre of trade in the world - while we are not as prolific as say the Dutch or the Portugese, it is giving our economy benefits. The Ottomans also reached infrastructure level 5, and built lots of governors and a few manufactories.

The main highlight was a massive war against Austria. We threw something like half a million troops (or more?) into the Balkans, penetrating as far as the walls of Vienna. Cheech fought very hard, and losses on both sides were pretty ferocious. I wanted Croatia, but settled for white peace as war exhaustion was hurting the Ottoman Empire as well as Austria.

Can I ask you a question? If I somehow turned it around and my navy beat yours, and after retaking my lost colonies, I took all your east indian ones as well, would you give them to me?

Considering how inferior your navy is, that's a rhetorical question - it ain't gonig to happen. So my advice to you is to accept the offer.

Another violent session for the austrians. While others hypertech like the gays boys they are. Really i dont know how i afford these troops. How about OE finds a new enemy. They clearly aint beating me :) Certainly though i would admit their morale is improving. This was the hardest theve been yet and it was a 1v1 for once.

Yeah it sort of defeats the purpose of having them.

That's no excuse. You couldn't know that in advance - and the fact that others are *more* late than you does not justifiy you being late at all.

I'm just saying that you knew perfectly well that you had patches to install, so I can't for the love of God figure out why you didn't take yourself 5 min to do so *before* 19:30 CET thursday evening...

cheech said:

I don't think anyone is in doubt that I feel the same way. OE and Persia allying is especially odd in my eyes... but Mughals doing nothing but hypertech for the last 5 or so sessions isn't satisfactory either.

Babûr's excuse is that if he attacks anyone, he will be open to an attack from colonials - and fall behind in tech. Well newsflash: that's the risk the rest of us take as well! What if France and Austria allied (like OE and Persia) and Spain did nothing but hypertech all game (like Mughals)? How much fun would that be?

But having said all that, I must also say that it's not entirely their fault. We have lacked a Russia for some sessions now, and even worse is that none of the colonial nations seems to be interested enough in the eastern CoTs to actually make a move for them...

Baby, you can not worry about me, i`m perfect in installing patches  . Took less than 3 mins to find & dl & install all required patches. So i knew that rest will lag more. Sure i understand your position, and you are right to bother people, just i`m not taking care much :p

And before the game i was busy ;) ;)

While one might have difficulty understanding why Mughals and Persia do not fight eachother over the ownership of some sheep border provinces; it is rather surprising to see that people do not understand why China doesn't fight vs humans. If you care to look at their LT level it will become apparent. And yes, they were retarded already when Elijah took over them.

When I took over Persia (and indeed also before that) I choose to be an economical sucker in the interest of preserving independency. Thus, after we reached LT18 as no 2 in the world (after Denmark IIRC) we have tried to improve economic techs instead, focussed on infra and we are now half way to infra 4. I could of course fight a lot of meaningless wars and end up being treated like RUS is by SWE in the Wednesday game. But frankly, that is not part of my plan for this game.

And yes, if one asks me about the Shiite plan (presently zero missionaries per year) it is mainly to try and survive and stay competitive until the end of the game. For me that is a little bit exciting. What does it matter for other nation's if my plans do not include ruinous wars vs friendly neighbours? Do I take up valueable bandwidth?
