I'd rather not have to lose any of you, but I'm sure we can all agree that playing with all this crashing and rehosting is intolerable.

Also, if you have time, maybe a virus scan and disc scan could be a good idea?

Yes, basically. It means no pirate spamming to avoid a hostile naval landing (and no sending 1 ship at a time to do the same either), no paying a nation to dow you at -3 stab to get a free +1 stab, no exploiting lag colonists and stuff, etc...

Yeah 'gamey' covers a whole wide range of things, but they are usually considered to be stuff that is only allowed by slip ups in the engine. Everyone's definition of gamey is a little different, but usually stuff like lagging bugs, using someone else to DoW while you use MA in the victim (actually that is just plain evil), and stuff like that.

These are all good ideas. They won't help Byakhiam though - he needs a new ISP (in my not so humble opinion) unless they can do something about the disconnections. (I'm not trying to single him out or saying he should be dropped otherwise, but on a bad night the rehosting gets frustrating).

Also to note, I classify ICQ as an unnecessary application in-game, as well - switching out to it can cause problems with some operating systems and versions of ICQ. Sometimes it can even cause trouble in background, so if your system is frequently CTDing you're best running EU2 without it. In-game diplomacy is better.

Really, all you need to be running when playing EU2 is your operating system, drivers, and nothing else. If you're not behind a router, I think it's good to use a software firewall, but otherwise the less you run the better - unless your system is as stable as a mountain.

I agree that a real help would probably be just that, but changing an otherwise good internet conn to be able to play EU2 with 12+ players ... is kinda extreme. So I'll stick to the "Almost No Ingame Chat Method" I developed last session and hope that everybody will do the necessary diplomacy with me between sessions.

Are you sure that the disconnections happen when you chat ingame? I think you said something about that before, but it just sounds *really* bizarre.
Mind you, I had strange problems when playing behind a router myself... no crashes but I couldn't do any diplomatic actions (or accept any) whatsoever. The only way for me was to bypass the router when playing EU2.

Well, both times I got disconnected last session were when I chatted. First when I said "Wee cores" or something like that after those Claims events happened right at start. Second time when I commented about how you were going to make peace for just gold with Persia. But as I was able to do some ingame chatting on last session, like saying "ni" and stuff, I presume it is caused by either me saying many things in quick succession and / or me saying things when other players are also using the chat function a lot.

I don't have a router though.

Bad i forgot to warn you, that you should keep CENT=8 to avoid -1200 cash event, but you didn`t have problems with that.

Yes used the good monarch stats to lower stab cost & increase income for future .

hmm I ques that event come after I had quit but I had saved lot of money for refineries to be build when hitting infra 3 so I ques it saved ai from loans and other troubles too?. Thought obviously it didnt do anything productive with that money.

Those event with -1200 didn`t hit because CENT was high enough, otherwise dp sliders would be different. So AI spent money for nothing, as usual.

Well i think my CTD problems may be over. I was crashing like crazy on sunday and so took some measures. After that no CTD. Played a full 4 hours on monday without any crashes either.

Due to exceptional circumstances, I will (likely) have to work this Friday. I'll be able to play the first hour and a half of the session, but will need a sub after then as I'll have to leave for work. Alternatively, if someone wants to play the whole session as OE for me, that'd be the preferable option for all purposes. Any volunteers?

Situation of OE: Good, one front is secure as Persia is tied down in a formal non-aggression pact for a couple more decades. Relations with Poland and Russia are cordial to good. Relations with Austria: vile treacherous enemies.
Inflation is high, so I'd like the sub to be cautious and concentrate on infrastructure investment (yeah, boring I know).

The best option would be to move either Pontus or Danne to England then.
preferably, put a newcomer in either mughals or persia.
