Anyone who has played with horselords has noticed that the new Nomadic succession type is very very powerful. This leads to one or two major blobs in the steppe. I don't want to remove this succession type because it is fun but I do want to add in two more to return realm splitting to the area like when it was just tribal.

The first is nomadic elective:
In this succession type every clan has one vote including you. Much like regular elective you simply choose an eligible heir and whoever gets the most votes gets everything. Unlike normal elective though prestige, martial, whether or not you're an adventurer, and power factor in majorly in the ai's voting rational. Like the current system it will massively prefer prestigious characters and sending your children off to become mercenaries is the best way to give them an edge in the election. As well as your children and siblings each khan under you is also eligible so there is a risk that if your vassals hate you or you have very poor heirs they might elect one of your vassals to become khagan in your place. In this case you become a vassal to him and continue on your game.

The second is nomadic elective gavelkind:
This is the more interesting succession type and what i recommend as the default succession type in many of the nomadic realms other than the golden horde and Ilkhanate. In this succession law you and your vassals vote the same way as nomadic elective, in which vassals, children, and siblings are all electable and prestige is the major consideration for election, but upon succession the realm splits based on who voted for who. Say for example you and 3 of your vassals vote for your heir, two vote for one of your vassals, and one votes for another one of your sons. Upon succession your second child will take half your lands (under normal gavelkind rules), population, and standing army and vassalizes the the khans who voted for him, the Khans who voted for one of your vassals become their own realm under that Khan, and you keep the rest of your land and population and all of the vassals that voted for you. Since this law is so brutal it should also make your vassal clans like you by +10-20 since they have a chance of starting their own realm.

How will it look?
In addition to viewing the election as any other elective realm through the laws tab you will also be able to see who each khan is voting for at a glance in the nomad tab. Here's an image of how I envision it:

I hope this is a small enough change and not cluttery enough that it wont be too much to add.

That should be dead easy to mod - simply change the existing succession types for Elective and Elective Gavelkind and make them usable by Nomads.

The only issue is that Nomads are already very very OP, would this give them yet another advantage or actually help break up nomad blobs ?

Although you could get something similar through modding it wouldn't work or look as I've suggested it since it wouldn't limit the election to just the clans, wouldn't prefer prestige and mercenaries above all else, and wouldn't split like I've described it.

The way I described it it should definitely either change ruling dynasties (nomadic elective) or completely fragment the realm (nomadic elective gavelkind). The way elective would switch dynasties is self evident since if you lose the election you stop being the top ruler. Nomadic Elective gavelkind though is much more brutal than normal elective gavelkind. Upon succession every single person with a vote inherits. Since there are up to 9 voters the realms can possibly split into 9 which would be a huge set back to even the biggest empires.

I didn't write much about it but I think nomadic elective succession should be the normal form of succession except for a select few realms. Changing the succession law between the three possibilities should require a lot of work. Maybe nomads can only change succession by spending a lot of prestige?
