Laos, LAO
Laos is a landlocked country in Southeast Asia. The first unified Lao state was the Kingdom of Lan Xang, founded in the 14th century. It was prosperous until the 18th century, when it was divided into 3 principalities which eventually fell under Siamese suzerainty. In the 19th century, Luang Prabang was taken by the French. Soon after, Champasak in the south and Vientiane would join French Indochina as well. Laos became a single state once again, a French protectorate. The nation, along with the rest of Indochina, was occupied by the Japanese. Lao nationalists declared independence after the surrender of the Japanese, but De Gaulle's forces put them down and Laos became an autonomous state within France. Independence was recognized in 1954, when Laos became an independent constitutional monarchy, and the French trained the Royal Lao Army. In 1955, the United States took over military training for the Royal Lao Army. However, a communist group, the Pathet Lao, was formed as well, which sided itself with North Vietnam and, heavily supported by the North Vietnamese Army, launched a war in 1962, dragging Laos into the Vietnam War.

* Great Frisia --> Actually proposed in real life about a year ago by an action group. Would be Leeuwarden, Groningen, Wilhelmshafen and Bremen.
* República Juliana --> Brazilian seperatist movement. Would have the three southern states of Brazil (Curitiba, Florianópolis and Porto Alegre) and possibly Montevideo as 'Cisplatina'.

Daboo, will you also make the "raw data" & map associated files your new map available so that modders with less prominent skill (like me) can e.g. at least change the names of the provinces in the colorscales.png's and then use the map-maker to "rebuild" the map. For me the map-extractor never worked and I always had to restart with a scratch based on the extraced map-files supplied by Hamilcar Barca.
Of course, in case of mod publication, credits would be more than happily given!

yes, not a problem but not for the next version because it only will include a few new provinces in Spain, Italy and France, I'll do in the future when I release the whole map I'm working on.KleinFaz said:

In 1959, the economy gained a large boost with the discovery of oil. However, discontent grew as the money from petroleum was kept by the King and the nation's elite, fueled by the rise of Nasserism.
