borga said:This BB attack might be sneak, but rational, so I understand. Bodvar just wanted to use the land CRT advantage as soon as he prepared his navy. However I don't like this ally peace&dow trick. I think it's unfair and should be banned by GMs for following games.
It might seem that it's an overwhelming defeat for me, but actually it turned on a hair. My naval tech was better than BB, though I didn't expect such a quick attack, I didn't rush a naval production and bang, I was outnumbered on sea. When it comes to land, it was clear that I won't have a chance alone. If I could meet BB with a close number of ships, I'm sure I could win that war and even gain some land. He didn't spend any time and wait for me to have a brand-new strong king and an able admiral.
BTW, there wasn't anything wrong made by Russia (maybe it seems so as WOW says) In reality, he joined the war and fought in Estonia with me against BB. He was even about to lose a province. Then he switched to a defensive stance, which is quite rational because of his tech disadvantage.
In the next session, maybe I'll be annexed or left with few provinces, but restarting the game or not are both OK for me. I won't say "restart, restart", even though I lost. 'Cause from my previous experiences, I know how much you feel bad when your victory is interrupted (So OE, BB and Austria wants to continue, i guess. It's obvious that I'm favor of restarting too).
I know that what I am doing is nowhere near beeing nice, and the fact that this is your first war doesn't make it any better. This was planned in 1640 (and even earlier actually, but not in detail). Your fall was as you pointed out: the difference in navies, I had naval superiority from the start, which allowed me to attack where you had few troops. Russia couldn't do much tbh, I had two crts and 50% better morale in addition to +1 shock and fire in the start of the war, now I have 40% better morale one crt and still shock and fire bonus. And after the first war I had Finland, so I would be defending.
I have one question however, did you figth on 50% maintenance? Stats shows 50%, If so, no wonder if you where defeated.
I won this because I had a similar war with Midos in 1595-1603 approximately, and there I needed five years to take down his fleet (I won that war too, and if it wasn't because of a bug I would have taken Skåne in that war as well, but I didn't have the ability to continue figthing after that war). This time I was prepared with a much larger navy, and I had built warships on beforehand. And I dowed you when you didn't have any admirals (you got Stenbock in 55 but then I had won and he's just a 4/3/3 (the bonuses is outweighted by better numbers and morale)). I did not do this because you're a newbie, I did this because the nap with England and the nap I had with you and Russia (expired in 52) gave me an 18 year-window to take you down, and once you had fallen this hard, I decided to go all the way (I originally planned to take strategical provs for an eventual second war, after the truce expired as your army was big enough that I couldn't be sure about a victory).
