Game session will be monday and thursday starting at 18:00 CET, we begin this coming monday.

There will be limitations to pagan annexation atleast, depending on the setup more or less. Also limitations about muslims is possible, especially if we play kingdoms it is far too easy to tear the muslims up. If we are dukes the limitations may be less severe.

The setup will propably vary a bit depending on the amount of players we have, but I think a duke setup could be a good starting point, that way some players can be vassals of others too the longer we go in the game. One question is if we should go with hard or normal difficulty, on hard we'd propably see a bit more realistic if slower development, and you can still make claims if we play a bit bigger than the smallest dukes, also I'd guess we would have a very hard competition for muslim lands then :)

So it'll likely be a duke or kingdom game, what is still open is if we merge those 2 ideas :)

The 2 kingdom aspect is interesting too, but I'd really like this to be a game we can port to EU2 after, or atleast have that as a choise, a duke game can be good in that respect.

Any suggestions on other rules we should adapt welcome too, like crusading limits or whatever else. Or just the country setup or setup in general.

Hey Red!

Count me in.

ATM, I'm trying to tweak Solmyr's bugfix to make a more realistic setup.

From what I've seen, the best kind of game would be everyone playing a single Kingdom, with players taking the role of Dukes, and one player as a King. Maybe two opposing Kings and sets of Dukes?

2 opposing kings would be better than 1 king, 1 king will become too much of an AI bash fest I fear(allready tried this setup).

I also think a Kingdom game would be very good, we played one with 5-8 players and it was a lot of fun.

Btw do you use ICQ still? haven't seen you in a bit, hop on sometime?

I've got a few people on ICQ interested in a new game too, maybe we could even start today, or very soon atleast.

My ICQ Is 164526 for anyone interested in this game, page me on icq plz too.

As I might have said elsewhere, Crusading is so beneficial that if people don't want AI bashing focused game it has to be regulated or scenario would need to be without moslems or pagans at all, which is moddable, but also glaringly ahistorical.

Various regulations that have been tried with variable success, may be mixed and matched, but don't need to be:

- To crusade, one needs to have Crusader trait
- Amount of provinces that can be taken depending on time, one prov per 5 years of game time for example
- Amount of heathen realms you may destroy depending on time, one realm per 10 years of game time for example
- Player war needed between Crusades

If players are strongest kings in scenario, it encourages those kings to bash puny AI kings (Germany bash Bohemia for ex) so having players as relatively weaker kings or powerful independent dukes somewhat close to each other might work.

Also common goal is good to encourage player rivalry.

There are a few things we can do,
#1 we could do like in many EU2 games, limit the game area to certain geographic region, IE you are not allowed to take any scandinavian land for example, or atleast no scandi pagans. Or no Russian land.

This atleast has worked very well in EU2 mp games, the idea of limiting the playable area to make AI bash less and player interaction more.

I think Crusading against muslims should be allowed for everyone no area limits, but there could be limits as Byak pointed out where you can only crusade with crusader trait or province limits there, etc.

Question though, how do you aquire crusader trait? I'm not that experienced yet with CK(or lets say I haven't played a game far enough to get that trait).

I think the setup should be

A) One or 2 kingdoms where a player or 2 are kings rest are vassals

B) Small/medium size duchies/kingdoms for player nations in a relatively close proximity to each other.

C) Major kingdoms/duchies as player nations (someone can be smaller if he wants too).

Ofcourse the amount of players we have in the game will limit the geographical area and what kind of setup we can choose. I honestly had a lot of fun playing England atleast in my last MP game even if it got aborted at a point. So a kingdom game might be very much fun.

I am not alltogether against the B option either, you can allways build up your nation and try to gain a bigger kingdom title.

A is not my favourite solution but I wouldn't be totally against it either.

Just want a fun game of CK, starting to like this game more and more :)¨

I personally think the most fun option would be to just keep the game confined to two kingdoms, and to keep it from being an AI bash, have the final winner be whomever is able to unite the two original kingdoms (incase dissidents are able to create new kingdoms). Disallow crusading or bashing AI. All combat must be done within the boundaries of the Kingdoms.

That'd be alot of fun, methinks. Basically, the starting King playesr would have alot of advantages, however, they would also be everyone's biggest targets.

BETTER OPTION:

Everyone is a Byzantine Prince! And the Emperor can never change it from elective law...

I would like to join. I like the Two Kingdoms idea the most, with least AI interaction and all that. Heavily dependent on what times we play. I can only play on Mondays (pretty much all day), late-early Saturdays (from 15:30 earliest to like 19-20 PM CET) and Sunday mornings (not too early obviously) to about 18:00 CET.

That idea about lots kingdoms and duchies doesnt seem too fun really, the AI is still quite pathetic in taking care of their realms. As i said, the Two Kingdoms against each other or Byzantium where everyone tries to become Emperor (Germany works almost as good too) seems the most fun in player interaction.

Hey red. Im interested but please dont decide times until end of week (when i get my shift patterns for the next 6 months)

It would also be interesting to play a game that could bassically continue on EU2 also whatever format we come up with. Be nice to play the full stretch heh.

Thats would be great but i think we need more experience first :)

The game won't be on wednesdays thats for sure. Too many have things to do then, including me.

Monday is a likely day for the game(seems that is free for most). Then there will likely be one or 2 other days we play. Just have to work it out, still checking with some people.

Those who haven't posted their availabilities to play yet, please do so.

Heya,

Definitely want in, like the two opposing Kingdoms idea. My schedule is erratic at best though, to the point where I can't predict when I'll be available.. so I can't suggest good times though.)

add me to the interested list :D

I can play thursday to sunday any time between 10PM-9 AM PST (which translates into 7AM and 6PM CET ).

Like the Byz prince idea, as long as:

1. Player becoming emperor has to give his original possesion/titles to his heir.
2. Emperor not allowed to help his heir in order to get re-elected.

Two kingdoms sounds good too.

Sounds good, so you can count me in. Best time to play is probably sunday and any (now and then) of mon-fri evenings. Occasional weekend nights could work too. (CET)

I'm quite open to what kind of game we should play (duchies, kingdoms and so on), but kingdoms seem more or less necessary if we want to continue to EU?
