The T stands for "Tyler", because I made it. ;) I envision it as not a prototype so much as a one-off production model for an SLDF guardsman who was also a highly placed noble. Kinda how the Pininfarina P4/5 is a Ferrari Enzo but so customized as to really deserve its own designation.

Since LBX-series cannons are a buttload less interesting without ammo switching, and ammo switching would be a tall order for launch, UI wise (since only the 10-X would exist in game, and only on the Atlas II), AND the PGI Atlas we have doesn't support the hardpoint locations the AS7-D-H has (E.G. I can't put an AC on the arm cuz there's no prefab to attach)... I made the HT. Which, in my own little headcannon, is the result of a member of the SLDF hybridizing a standard AS7's weaponry (like the AC20) and the more advanced chassis of an AS7-D-H.

Cuz he wanted the new tech, but the old punch.
that's fair enough, it's certainly not unreasonable to have specially pimped mechs run about the place, and a Atlas is one of the mechs that are comparatively easy to get parts for, and so heavily armored that at least the endo-chassis would easily survive unscathed for most of the succession wars. but the FF armor ?

it's been sitting in a cache somewhere for a long long time haven't it ?

but i figure we will learn more from the game once it gets here.

So judging by the pics/video, the 'Mech customization has been simplified quite a lot in terms of crit slots? For example, the AC20 taking up four slots instead of 10. Or am I missing something here? Anyone got any info whether the slot amounts of 'Mechs/equipment were changed during development compared to tabletop rules?

I'll give you a bit of insight on the approach to hardpoints relative to where they've ended up, without spoiling anything for specific 'Mechs ;)

Basically, I did an audit of what art and FX options we supported based on the original models from MWO and how they've been migrated into our pipeline. As you know, we created a new hardpoint type - Support - that borrows in some cases from existing Ballistic or Energy points (sorry Missiles). I then had two goals:

1) Provide more 'Mechs with Support hardpoints, given that most would inherently have none at all (most 'Mechs don't mount S Lasers, Flamers, or MGs)

But more importantly:

2) Provide increased customization options for 'Mechs that would otherwise be shoe-horned into always having to mount basically the same loadout, while also still preserving their overall configuration "theme".

So I took the audit list and then on a *per 'Mech basis* went through and sprinkled extra hardpoints as were appropriate for the above goals. Some 'Mechs haven't been touched at all while and others have had 2+ hardpoints added to their chassis availability.

We've had a lot of fun water cooler stories in the office about customization after this so I'm excited to see the cool configs that you BT fans can roll out!

So, re: Forza style color jobs. Fun idea. Still wanna do it. No way we woulda had time to implement that for launch. So each mech has a paint scheme, where several colors get applied. You choose your company colors - for example, I'm currently rocking lavender, metallic blue, and white. Each mech has a unique paint scheme, and those colors are applied to the mech. So a Shadow Hawk's paint's scheme will have the same pattern as other Shadow Hawks, but not the same as any other mech. However, all your mechs will have the same color scheme.

wait wut?

I did not hear that ...

so basically all mechs look the same no color configuration at all or are we talking about a paint job that is applied uniformly but selectable for the whole mercenary unit?

I was just talking about that icon in the Mechlab, nothing else. I remember some one saying the Icon was removed :).

Did you really need to make 15 different threads, op?
He could've made one thread with 50 pictures. Would that have been easier or more difficult to discuss?
There has been an average of one response every minute in one or or another of these threads. That would have been anarchy in one thread, nobody would be able to follow any discussion.

o_O ...we're not able to apply at least a camo pattern?

I´m still wondering about that Atlas II on a Leopard. I thought the game will move quite early on to the Argo, but the screenshots seem to suggest that we will have an Atlas II almost from the get-go?
