Hello, everyone!
I have a few questions concerning new mechanics introduced in Banks and Utopia.

1. How does the food work now? I know that if it increases over the cap of the storage it will benefit pop growth, but it's very slow and before it was 1 food = 0.1 pop growth. Now I can't seem to find the exact values because it isn't stated anywhere. No matter how much food I amass, pop growth won't go above 1.90...

2. How does indoctrination work? My observation post had that option selected for decades and it nothing never popped, while in the most recent playthrough, I had it popping notification screens every few months. But it never stated whether it is finished, or its progress.

3. Factions and ethics... I kept suppressing 1 faction for decades and it didn't reduce the number of pops in it at all, nor it did disband/remove. I know that now every pop can have only 1 ethic, but they don't seem to change during the game...

This is just a guess but I think pop growth is purposely slower now with the new system. Make sure you have a frontier clinic/hospital on every world as that increases growth and there are some techs that increase it as well. I don't know the exact numbers, sorry, but my guess is you'll really have to stay on top of building and upgrading farms if you want to get close to the growth speed you could before this update. I'm sure mods will tweak this if you don't like it.

Yeah, I had problems with ethics attraction as well but still learning the system so it's hard to really judge it yet. I suppressed a faction for nearly a century but they kept right on growing, passing even my empire ethics so I do think it needs to be tweaked some.

1. How does the food work now?
I'm not entirely sure myself. i'm sitting on a 200 food surplus a month yet i don't even reach 1.5 pop growth a month. I suspect it has something to do with multiple pops growing at the same time but even then it doesn't completly add up. It seems to me that, if you want to maintain some form of extra pop growth, you need an exponentionally increase in food production.

Pop growth troubles you say? Hmm.

I modded my game for a slower base growth rate. I also have it where a population is lost from a planet that builds a colony ship (a free pop seems super weird to me as per base game).

... definitely feel the effects of slower growth for me lol. >.>
