Well, here I am with the next chapter in my Russian series. As in my previous post, I'll add when necessary (and if I've been able to find enough data) a little biographical information about the chap's fate after 1917.


Admiral Nikolay Ilarionovich Skrydlov (1844-1918)

(Service 1893-1908, Background: expert_raider, Personality: aggressive)

Ivan Alexandrovich Fullon (1844-1920)

(Service 1890-1911, Background: incompetent, Personality: brutish)

Baron Alexander Nikolayevich Moller-Zakomelsky (1844-1928)

(Service 1889-1909, Background: womanizer, Personality: bigoted)

Prince Alexander Petrovich Oldenburgsky (1844-1932)

(Service 1880-96, Background: gifted_administrator, Personality: polite)
(Being a relative of the Romanovs, this chap became general before being 40 y.o., and in 1896 he was appointed as a member of the Council of State, thus ending his active involvement in the army. Went into exile in France after 1917 and died in Biarritz in 1932)

(Service 1898-1910, Background: cartographer, Personality: careless)

Andrey Nikolayevich Selivanov (1847-1917)

(Service 1895-1915, Background: school_of_the_bayonet, Personality: meticulous)

Admiral Yevgeny Ivanovich Alexeyev (1847-1917)

(Service 1892-1904, Background: warmonger, Personality: unruly)
(This guy was Tsar Alexander II's extramarital son, and after his disastrous performance in the Russo-Japanese war, he was "kicked upstairs" to the Council of State and did not receive any more active commands)

Nikolay Nikolayevich Sukhotin (1847-1918)

(Service 1887-1906, Background: cavalry_school, Personality: able)

Admiral Prince Pavel Petrovich Ukhtomsky (1848-1910)

(Service 1901-1908, Background: aristocrat, Personality: spineless)

Vladimir Gavrilovich Glazov (1848-1918)

(Service 1891-1909, Background: professor, Personality: smart)

Well observed. The fact is that there were two generals in the Austro-Hungarian Army during WWI called like that.

The first one (the one who appears in the link you posted) was Karl von Kirchbach auf Lauterbach (1856-1939) who commanded III and IV Armies in the Eastern Front.

The second one (the one I chose to make the leaderpic with) was Johann von Kirchbach auf Lauterbach (1858-1920) who was karl's younger brother, and commanded II Army Corps until 1916, from then on he commanded Vienna garrison.

Why did I chose Johan instead of Karl given that the later was the more important one in rank? Well, it was because of the original vanilla game leaderfiles:

Vladimir Alexandrovich Sukhomlinov (1848-1926)

(He was the very controversial Minister of War from 1909 to 1915; he enjoyed a vey cordial relationship with the Tsar and the Empress, but in June 1915 he was dismissed from his post because of the general unpreparedness of the Army for the war; on April 1916 he was arrested and imprisoned on the charges of high treason, criminal incompetence and corruption. After reaching 70 years of age in May 1918 he was freed from prison and he went into exile to Finland and then to Germany; he died in Berlin)

(He was murdered in Petrograd by a mentally sick soldier)

(He changed his name to "Irmanov" in 1916; went into the reserve in June 1917, left to southern Russia after October Revolution, where he joined the White movement. After defeat of the White armies he went to exile in Yugoslavia)

Dimitry Nikolayevich Voronets (1852-1932)

(Service 1891-1917, Background: bureaucrat_speed, Personality: careful)
(Released from service by the Provisional Government in April 1917, after October Revolution he exiled himself to France)

Vladimir Viktorovich Sakharov (1853-1920)

(Service 1901-17, Background: cavalry_school, Personality: gutsy)
(Dismissed from active army command by the Provisional Government in April 1917, after that he lived in Romania and southern Russia and he was shot by the Bolsheviks in Crimea in 1920)

sorry for third post in a row, but I just thought it was nice to tell you that the pack i've been working on is on the way. It's NOT for VIP, but i'm going to make a version that works for VIP in a while too. When I finish the remaining French and Roger finishes the Swedes ( ) the pack is going to be released. I think you may be a bit harsh on Lord Chelmsford. He had a pretty uniformly successful career before Isandhlawana. He held a lot of staff appointments. All the prior South African campaigns had been laughablly one-sided (the 9 Kaffir Wars), so he didn't take the Zulus very seriously at first.

Perhaps Glory Hound, Gifted Administrator would be a good picture of him.

Well, I made his leader file with stats that were recommended by Semper Victor. I indeed thought that these stats were very harsh for him but when I saw his info, I'm going to use those stats. He might have had a nice career, but he screw up. Losing against pagans with spears is just, ridiculous
