Ever since the "Lehman Brothers incident", I have thought of many interesting scenarios for AARs, with the following "events":
1. Great depression is here again. Economies are collapsing all over the world, unemployment rate go above 20% in USA and 30% in eastern Europe.
2. China stop buying US Treasury bills, US dollar collapse.
3. North Korea's government goes into anarchy after an "important leader" have died. South Korea decide not to interfere as its economy is a mess after its export to the US and Europe are down by 70%.
4. An new extremist government is established in Korea, uniting the North and South, promising economic recovery and national pride (think Hitler in the first great depression). Combined military force of the new Korea is now the second largest in the world (source: wikipedia).
5. China buy US bonds again, on the condition that US will be silence on territorial claims of China (including Taiwan, islands in South China Seas, islands between China and Japan...etc).
6. US pacific fleet permanently leave Taiwan and Japan, rebase in Pearl Harbor.
7. US citizens are divided in their new foreign policies towards China and Korea.
8. US president is assassinated by white extremist.
9. With 25% unemployment rate, a dead president and inflation at 20% (because Fed has printed too much money); United States of America is now officially not united.
10. Using this opportunity, China (PRC) send an ultimatum "Taiwan or War" to Republic of China (ROC) .
11. Korea land armed forces in Japan to "investigate" the event of Korean citizen "missing" in Japan. Japan's self- defense army is too small to stop them. (Revenge time!!)
12. Inflation in US go up to 100%, US government defaults its bonds. EU countries and UK follow by defaulting their own bonds.
13. Add whatever you want.....
All are possible in the future, making this kind of AAR even more interesting.
I am not a skillful writer myself, but I would like to see if anyone want to give it a try. An AAR about the second great depression and major shift of power in the world once again.
