I have a new idea regarding the machinary tools that will make the game even more realistisc.

When i was a big newbie, i once expanded all my farms and factories, coz i though it would increase the efficiency of it - enhancing the production for one worker.

Well, today i know that was incorrect, and the only way to make it more efficiency is to get invention triggers and techs (also think this should increase the input of the factorie, the ressources it needs when inventions and techs increase production).

But what about this: What if you could make it even more effiency yourself. The inventions and techs should give a big efficiency, while your upgrades makes it more efficient little by little. This should of course also be decreased by the time, so that the more you upgrade your factory, the less it will take effect the next time you make it more efficient.

But what should the costs be for such improvements: Well, the inventions and the techs are free of charge, but your own improvements should cost two things - money and machinary tools. This way, it machinary tools will take a place in the game, which is as real as it gets, and you can have even more trade and war going on for machinary tools. And don't say some countries doesn't produce machinary tools, coz if you make the perfect mixture between cost of cash and cost of machinary tools, the countries that produce it, will have no benefits in saving all the machinary tools, coz they can't upgrade all the time because of money costs.

Well, take a look at this custom scenario:
Canned Food Factory is build.
it will give 1.50 for 10k workers
all improvements will give 0.15 for 10k workers
1st improvement cost: 1 machinary tool + 500 money = now it's 1.65
2nd improvement cost: 2 machinary tools + 1200 money = now it's 1.80
3rd improvement cost: 3 machinary tools + 1800 money = now it's 1.95
4th improvement cost: 5 machinary tools + 2500 money = now it's 2.10
5th improvement cost: 7 machinary tools + 3500 money = now it's 2.25
6th improvement cost: 10 machinary tools + 5000 money = now it's 2.40

I will let you do the numbers - just need some calculations and estimations. Actually, you can work out a form (think that's the english word), which will make it possible to make unlimited upgrades, or you could do it manually and set like 8 upgrades.

Plz give me some comments everyone, and I really hope to hear something from you Paradox. If this can't be made in a patch or mod, plz save it for Vic2.. ;)

I'd say it was a good idea if railroads and capitalists/aristocrats didn't already increase factory/RGO effiency. Since there are already two ways to increase effiency, I don't know if adding a third is worth it.

Well, if they could only adjust the numbers. E.g. each factory would produce less from the beginning, but with the capitalists, railroads and factory improvement it could increase the efficiency. That way you could have a really good game in the long run. Furthermore, there should be more social reforms or more like more levels or the levels are more expensive. That would even up the numbers.

Ah, a fellow thread necromancer I see. ;)
I like the idea, but there should be some kind of cap, otherwise one can end up with factories with 2000% efficiency.

Yes, i'm a big necromancer :) I really want to gratuate myself for this idea and that's one of the reasons i've become a necromancer :p Well, i see your point of a capacity and believe i can accept something like that. But plz remember that it should cost more and more everytime you improve the machinery. Furthermore, it should cost extra than that if you have a big factory (with more space than 5 POPs) - it could be something like this if we take the numbers from the first improvement of the factory:

Quote: "1st improvement cost: 1 machinary tool + 500 money = now it's 1.65"

2nd improvement = 1st improvement x 1.5 x factory size (space for POPs, 5 = 1, 10 = 2, 15 = 3 aso - i think you guys get it :) ).

So you see with a 1.5 cost increasement everytime the factory's efficiency is increased, we can easily get up to some very big numbers. And remember that this is only with the efficiency increasement of, let's say:

10k ppl = 1.65 canned food/day for 1st improvement.
2nd improvement = 1.65 + 0.15 = 1.80
3rd improvement = 1.80 + 0.15 = 1.95

The biggest problem is probably implementing this feature - but that's important if you ask me if we are so lucky to get a Vic2 ever, though i doubt it because of the financial failure as i heard of..

I've always thought of railroads as actually a bit more than just a railroad, and essentially the system you just describe. Maybe making the last few railroad upgrades include things like machine parts and electric gears would also make sense.

Yeah, guess you are right on that, but i would still like to see both railroads and factory effiency increases. But things are very realistic. The railroads might be adjusted so they don't contribute that much to the efficiency. Still giving some efficiency, but just a little less. Then you don't have to adjust everything as much as you would you would keep the railroad efficiency and the factory effiency in question. But i like the idea of mechanical parts and electical gears for high level railroads.

I would just support this option for RGOs only. You can already increase the efficiency of factories by promoting capitalists. However, you cannot promote aristocrats. At least not directly . . .

Well, again see your point, but consider if an extensive patch would just even everything up. The economy in 1.03c is good, and of course it would be too easy to make money if they only implemented this without changing something else, but that's why i think it should be even up by decreasing something else if you know what i mean.. Like decreasing the benefits of railroads and capitalists - this would make it all equal. But we should get the system for RGO aswell.
