Berar
Traditions - Leader Siege: +1 / Military Technology Cost: -5%
1) Gawilghur Fort - Fort Defense: +10%

The Gawilghur Fort was built by Fathullah Imad-ul-Mulk of Berar. It is a well fortified mountain stronghold. It takes years for our invaders to successfully breach the fort's walls, so it's only logical that we build our forts in similar locations.
2) Religious Crossroads - Religious Unity: +20%
The Indian Subcontinent is very religiously divided. By treating all believers equally, regardless of their faith, we can create a tolerant society.
3) Avoid the Mistakes of the Bahmani Sultanate - Stability Cost Modifier: -10%
Our nation was one of many Sultanates created after the collapse of the Bahmani Sultanate. If we are to become a long lasting empire we must avoid the mistakes of kingdoms past.
4) The Imad Shah Dynasty - Yearly Legitimacy: +1
Historically, Berar was ruled by the Imad Shah dynasty from the country's beginning to its demise. To keep this dynasty ruling for as long as it can we must reform our succession laws.
5) Foreign Siege Specialists - Artillery Cost: -10% / Siege Ability: +5%
They may not want to know it, but our generals aren't all that great. A good amount of them are competent leaders in battles, but when it comes to sieges, seeking help from foreign experts is our best course of action.
6) Strive for Tolerance - National Unrest: -1
Unrest is always a great problem in any nation. This becomes an exceptional problem in India, given the fact that it is religiously and culturally divided. We should strive to understand this and reconcile our differences to accomplish a society everyone will want to live in.
7) Berar National Guard - Morale of Armies: +10%
Guarding the Sultan's palace is the most honourable thing any soldier can do. By granting these guards benefits, we will ensure they stay loyal, and all our soldiers will fight all that harder to achieve this prestigious position.
Ambition - Artillery Combat Ability: +10%

Garhwal
Traditions - Morale of Armies: +10% / Chance of New Heir: +50%
1) Descendants of Malwa - Time to Fabricate Claims: -20%

Garhwal was founded when Kanakpal, the prince of Malwa married the daughter of a Garhwali chieftain. Kanakpal and his descendants conquered all the independent forts (Garhs), thus creating the Garhwal kingdom.
2) Himalayan Defenses - Fort Defense: +15%
Located just in the base of the Himalayas, we are in a great defensive position. By building forts in areas with high altitude we can see the invaders coming and defend appropriately.
3) Legacy of the Chand Kings - Yearly Legitimacy: +1
The Chand Kings ruled the area of Garhwal when it was fragmented into small principalities. Though we are now united, we can learn many lessons from them.
4) Garhwali Shah - National Unrest: -1
Balbhadra Shah was the first Raja of Garwhal to use the title Shah. All rulers since have used it, and the people feel secure knowing the country's well ruled, whatever the monarch's title is.
5) Garhwali Language - Accepted Culture Threshold: -10%
Garhwali is a Central Pahari language, primarily spoken by citizens of our country. The people we conquer may be displeased if we force them to speak a foreign language, but later on it will lead to easier integration of their lands.
6) Continued Resistance Against the Muslims - Discipline: +5%
We border the uninhabited wastelands of the Himalayas to the north, but on all other fronts we are surrounded by Muslim countries that would rather have us not exist. We must take a stand against the Muslim menace and protect the believers of the Hindu faith from any harm.
7) Long-Standing Kingdom - Yearly Prestige: +1
The Kingdom of Garhwal has existed for more than 600 years. We have a long and rich history, as we watched entire empires be created and crumble to dust.
Ambition - Technology Cost: -5%

Tirhut
Traditions - Missionary Strength: +1% / Land Leader Maneuver: +1
1) Nepali Connections - Infantry Combat Ability: +10%

We may not have the best of relations, but we must admit that our neighbors in Nepal are very effective warriors. By bribing the right people, we can find out some of their secrets.
2) The Oinwar Dynasty - Yearly Legitimacy: +1
The Oinwar dynasty did much for our country. However, we must accept the fact that they may not rule forever, and write a new succession law in anticipation of that day.
3) Brahmin Rajas - Tolerance of the True Faith: +2
Tirhut was one of the few nations ruled by Brahmins, and the kingdom had rulers of Brahmin caste only.
4) Tibetan Trade Routes - Global Trade Power: +10%
The trade across the Tibet may not be the most profitable, but they is currently our only option. We should make our presence there stronger, at least before we conquer more profitable lands.
5) Modernize Mud Forts - Fort Maintenance: -10%
There are mud forts scattered across the country, but there's very few forts that could actually withstand an attack if there ever was one. We must refurbish these forts to ensure they defend our country from the invaders.
6) Hindu Refugees - Development Cost: -10%
We are a Hindu country, but we also border many Muslim nations, both Shia and Sunni. Our brethren that follow the true faith are being cruelly persecuted in these countries. They seek refuge in our cities, and we will gladly accept them with open arms.
7) Do Justice and Relieve Distress - Stability Cost Modifier: -10%
Raja Raghu Singh of Tirhut succeeded in getting some of his land back from the Mughals, under the pledge that he will 'Do justice, relieve distress, and put the country in flourishing condition'. He did so, and so shall we.
Ambition - Cavalry Cost: -10%

---

I've been making new ideas on and off for a couple of months, and I've got about 25 that I like piled up, so I've decided to start posting them here starting with new ideas for three Indian nations. Suggestions are welcome (as are corrections and additions to the descriptions).

Next time: Funj, Kaffa, Morocco

You should also do a Crimean Idea (Kazan got special ideas so why not other hordes).

I did have a look at your ideas, and while I think Hainaut is fine, Brunswick could use -10% development cost reduction, not -15%, just to be consistent with every other national idea set in the game (they're all -10% except the Economic Ideas but that's different).

Booo! Why is consistency considered as such a great thing in NI's, uniqueness is way better! What does it matter if Brunswick has 5% extra development cost reduction than surrounding states, it makes them unique and fun to play, and these days all the small nations get standard amounts of morale, trade power, etc. in their ideas because people are afraid that they will be overpowered. In AI hands it won't make any difference, and in player hands these small buffs give countries something special.

You're the first person to ask about that. But people are upset at my accepted culture from Hainaut (Some people are fine with it, some aren't.). I lowered a bunch of Brunswick ideas and I feel that the extra 5% in development with everything being the same for every idea group makes it a little unique with the Idea group.

Many people don't like my ideas a lot. The either say that it's ok or it's OP. But I'm glad you enjoy my choice for development :).

I don't mind ideas having extra development cost reduction, or extra anything. However, I prefer if there is a historical reason for the bonuses (say, a country was really developed at the time). I don't particulary mind though.

My general reasoning is that countries that were strong historically generally have stronger ideas, but that's a bit boring. All in all, I'm not telling you how to do your ideas, that's just how I like to do mine.

I'm not criticizing for what you said. It's your opinion and it makes sense. Stronger nations should have stronger ideas *cough* Ottomans *cough*, but look at Baden. Reduced Aggressive Expansion Impact, Yearly Prestige AND Legitimacy. The harder countries also get stronger ideas. I mean Brunswick and Hainaut isn't the hardest country, but they aren't the dominant country in their region either. My idea for Brunswick is that they are a state that can match up to the stronger neighbors like Bohemia and Burgundy. They're able to be a stable nation. My idea with Hainaut is to make alliances and have a military that can defend their borders.
