While had played hoi2 i always felt the industry so dull
So my idea of another type of industry is that you make factories like tank factories, naval factories, small armaments factories, and allot more

with this sort of thing using bombers to seek and destroy industry and take the weak points or hard points out and if a factory has been bombed you can see the % of the damage it has the more damage is has the less products and ofcourse you can repair it

I hope to GoD IC stays the same instead of detailing it to Vicky's level, Region's are enough.

We should be able to build Small-Arms, Tanks, Aircraft and Shipyard factories that increase your IC and TC by the same amount of one IC, but should be able to decrease production time and cost and decrease upgrade time of those divisions.

For example a Tank factory would decrease Motorized, Mechanized and Armored divisions by 2 days and cut IC cost down by 2.

Something like that would be acceptable. I just hope for productions sake to really help everyone but especially countries like Britain, Japan and Italy which suffer a bit because of their lower IC that they put naval construction into a tree of its own. Something like shipyard IC would be good. That way you could have a small national IC output like old HOI2 but have a huge ship building potential kind of like Japan. That way you actually can build ground and air forces, as well as naval since in the past it was hard to really pump out what you need given the conflicting IC costs.

Ha ha ha, Stimulation.

Anyway, a new way of dealing with industrial capacity is well needed.

Yeah a war game that runs into problems accurately depicting military growth for certain countries due to your inability to build the things you need at the times you need it. Japan is a prime example.

Total war is won as much in the factories as it is on the battlefield. A fairly realistic economic model is absolutely vital for any grand strategy WW2 game.

I don't want an overly complicated game, but why not just limit the factories to the realm of the three types of divisions, Land, Sea, and Air? This small change allows for most of the benefits people seem to want, and isn't all that complicated. Land and Air factories could be (and were) built anywhere, but Sea (or Naval) IC would have to be in a coastal province.

Any thoughts?

Sounds like the simplest thing to implement in my opinion thus shouldn't be overly advanced for the average gamer. However I can imagine it would prove a challenge to research this sort of data for every country in game.

Waffen's right about the inability for many countries in HoI3 to expand their military, but I really find there is nothing wrong with the current design of IC.

If Japan wants to build 10 Battleships, then's nothing stopping them and neither is building several serial runs of Armored altogether, except their range of technology and how much IC they have.

If we have an issue with how much IC Japan has, then let's increase it otherwise I don't see a reason to change a game mechanic that actually simplifies something that would've been difficult to use and hard to master like Vicky's factory system.

If I had to, I would detail the IC system. I wouldn't add an additional IC purely for building ships and anything like that, just allow players to build individual IC alongside the regular IC to target the building of certain things.

But IC are simply too broad for representing industrial output in a meaningful sense. it is ludicrous for a nation to be able to suddenly switch from building 30,000 ton battleships - which have an entirely particular set of capital requirements - to only aircraft squadrons - which have another. Retooling industry in such a way takes years, it is nowhere near instantaneous.

I think the best compromise is to have heavy and light IC for land construction, and naval shipyards for maritime IC.

You can increase the IC total that's fine that would work though it would be not what I was aiming at. What I'm getting at is for Japan for example yeah you can build those battleships, but that's all. You won't have any IC left to to build anything else let alone maintain supply levels and consumer goods >assuming those are back< While in reality they were building everything, they had shipyards pumping out lots of ships and troops being trained, vehicles and planes being built. You can't really do that accurately with the IC's of some of these countries like Italy and Japan. Really makes playing them an extreme challenge.
