I've modified extensively the starting forces of Allies, Axis, Comintern and Neutrals. In short, I've modified every country's military, resources, diplomatic influence, dissent, etc.

Some changes were made to German and British military. Mainly reduced the amount of Panzer (armor) for the Germans, and made accurate ranges for their ships (from data sources I have).

Added a couple of British units (Eastern Africa and Ireland) for now.

I NEED TESTERS.

Is anyone interested ???? I could sure use the testing to see if we can make a better Grand Campaign, which I am calling "THE GATHERING STORM" after Winston Churchill's book.

Email me if interested:

I have a suggestion for the 36 scenario. Let Germany keep their 40 divisons (ap 10.000 men each) but reduce them to 25% strength to correctly reflect the Weimar 100.000 man army.

40 x 10.000 x 25% = 100.000

At full strength Germany would start with a 400.000 man army. And yes I kow that a German division often contained more than 10.00 personnel, ranging between 9.000 to 16.000 depending on the peace or war time and branch of forces. My suggestion is just a generalisation of the situation and will make the German player sweat a little in time for the remilitarization of the Rhineland.

Good idea, but if I remember my history correctly, the German army was brought up to strength well before 1936 and the remilitarization of the Rhineland.

not really, the remilitarization of the rhineland was a huge gambling from hitler's part, the german generals were ordered to retreat behind the rhine if the french started moving.that is because french army was much bigger than the german one at that time

This time I think I am, actually. =) That is, I remember it correctly, but I may be wrong just the same.

"Brought up to strength" is a bit vague on my part, and so is "well before 1936" but the Universal Military Service Law, dated March 16 1935 (6 days after Goering announced that Germany was building up a military air force) is fairly clear on the subject:

"Service in the Armed Forces is based upon compulsory military duty. [...] In peace time, the German Army, including the police troops transferred to it, is organized into: 12 Corps and 36 Divisions."

...equivalent to more than 500.000 men. Of course, I have no clue as to how quickly the army was brought up to that strength.

Okay you are remembering your memory correctly.

The Wehrmacht was over the 100,000 limit and IIRC there had been a public announcement regarding the fact that Germany would no longer adhere to that limit. I think this announcement may have been in mid 36 or early 37. In any case, there is no question in my mind that the Versailles limit had been exceeded, but from what I recall reading, Germany certainly did not have 40 full strength divisions in place in March 1936. It was probably in the ballpark of 20 divisions, and some of those understrength.

I am most curious about why you made the modifications. What was driving your efforts? Were you just trying to make things more historical? Do you think the economics were too easy or grew too quickly? Was the Axis or Allies too disadvantaged in your mind?

Obviously when you take on such a significant project, it is for a reason. I am just curious about the factors that were driving your effort to better understand what problem you were trying to fix. Only then would I be able to provide any feedback on (1) whether or not I agree that it is a problem that needs fixing, and (2) whether or not I believe your mods accomplish the goal of fixing it.
