So, this means that it still uses the 'Send Spy' espionage system.

A vote for MEM then.

Interesting. Why don't you like the new system?

I see. But that is the beta. My impression was that it was released with exagerated parameters fot playtesting purposes. Overall the concept of the system is superior, as long as it was nerfed somewhat, don't you think?

I'm now way against the spy system in 1.2. I don't know if it was just WiF, lack of counter espionage or pure luck, but assasinating 4 ministers (including 2 IC ministers) and doing 5 sabotages in 6 months is not cool. Greg told that the assasination chances were 25 and sabotage 50. That is way too much, althrough I don't know about the Axis spy defence here. But he was able to infiltrate me too pretty easily and even tried assasinating my guys, althrough I had 10 spies on defence.

Anyway, I have done a bit research on ED's and the EIR thread, but it would be nice if you could give a short summary of both MEM and EIR (including the versions installed on, and the crash thing, can it be fixed?). You know this stuff better than us. ;)

I completely forgot EIR yesterday, so I might still change my vote if the mod convinces me. I presume that both mods are pretty stable and well finished. Because after spending 3 sessions (20 hrs) on unfinished MP mods, I think we want a nice, simple & stable mod, over some cool mod that doesn't work in multi.

Having more spies on counter-espionage doesn't mean it's harder to execute espionage missions against you. It just means you have a higher chance of killing enemy spies, which is the only way of defending yourself from them.

Nah, the 1.3b system is completely revamped and your counter-espionage actually makes it harder for others to do espionage missions against you. Although it does remove the necessity to keep sending spies to whoever you want to piss off, the daily costs it takes to keep your intelligence levels high enough to have a decent chance balance that out nicely.

Maybe we should put up the real vote on Tuesday or Wednesday, I would like to get some more info of MEM and EIR first. But whatever, that is the current situation, ok. But the next game is still 6 days away. ;)

I vote for vanilla. Although i would really like to play with a mod, that actually doesn't change anything in game. Something as Kaiserreich or 1914, or no ww1 mod or something like that. Im confident, that if we would play with that mods we could play the game with much less crashes as in mods which have massive changes to the playing system. It would be refreshing.

My comment on WIF:
WIF is a great mod if you want to prove yourself against the computer, where victory against the AI is achieved much harder. But in MP, if we ignore the crashes the game makes the game much easier to win against the democracies (So its unbalanced in the favor of colonial powers, democracies).

The Axis powers have massive problems with resources in the game and you must use considerable amount of time to solve the economic situation. Second because of the sliders the non democracies don't have any cash or very little to defend before spies. You are lucky if you are able to keep your research up, without actually spending extra IC on consumer goods. With that the allies can rape you with spies.

Well for allies, they are just weakend with the low IC efficiency and manpower, which is regained by events.

I don't know, those mods do have a lot of events and modded stuff, necessary not gameplay. That little friction with the big mass of modded stuff with over 10 player group can really make a lot of rehosts.

Personally I would like a simple historical scen, but with longer combat. But looks like that isn't gonna happen. :(

In all honesty, I'd recommend this group go the vanilla route. I've not played EIR, so I can't comment on it, but I have played MEM, and I don't think you guys are going to like it either. The SU is in a similar situation in MEM as what you experienced with World at War... very outgunned and outnumbered by the Axis powers and heavily reliant on good tactics/Allied intervention to survive. Just my 2c

Here is what I offer.

We talk to some experienced modders (Altaris, Cueball for example) and ask them to throw out some ideas about extending combat process. Or just copying the feature from WiF, TRP.

Well those events there are basic events, not some country, resource statistic changers.

Vanilla is good and stable, but it has been played 100 times and it's all the same. But as a compromise I say we take Vanilla, but increase GDE to 0,9. That way the battles would be a bit longer and Barbarossa might not be a 1 year sudden death.

This can be edited to the save, so no extra files would be needed. I will just raise the starting GDE by 0,1. So then USSR will still have lower GDE before the Great Patriotic War. Any other modifications could be done, as long as it is just the save. I think it would be the best to keep the game as a simple Vanilla 1.3b 2, just edit the save.

I disagree about the SU in MEM. The SU in the present version of WAW is way more nerfed. I was just in a game of MEM where SU stalled the Axis offensive in 1941 at the Dnepr river, and the game was called a draw in 1945, after the Allied invasion of Europe was driven off. USSR in vanilla is simply unbeatable.
