another bit of advice.....the website pcpartpicker.
plenty of user posted builds and how-tos
mainly though is their system builder....
it lets you add parts to a list...checking for compatibility and keeping track of power usage.(helps ya pick a psu with plenty of headroom)
it has a quite thorough list of pc components with pricing to give you an idea of cost.
it is especially helpful in planning new builds or seeing what is available for an upgrade to a current build.

thanks for your help in this
My currant system is running win 7 been hearing alot of horror stories concerning win 10 not sure if i will up grade to win 10 or stick with win 7
I have had no major problems with Windows 10. It did take a bit of effort to find and turn off various privacy invading features (there are articles out there explaining exactly what to do), but that was the major issue I have had with it.

Sadly, Windows 7 is going to be End of Life in January, so it will no longer get security updates at that point. I'd strongly suggest moving to a newer OS because of that. If Windows 7 was going to keep being supported, I'd have stuck with 7, but that wasn't a good choice for me with End of Life looming. :(

I've run Windows 10 on all my machines since the free upgrade was started and I've had very few problems, no horror stories at all, and the best part is if you enter your valid Windows 7 key during installation it's free! For some of the new parts they aren't making Windows 7 drivers anymore. It really is time to upgrade.
