Essential Rules:
1. Obey the GMs. They are your Gods.
2. You can two regular vassals by war and one historical. No more, no less, if you are unsure of something, ask the GM.
3. There's a stab hit rule:
If you get a peace proposal by an opponent in a war and
- You are at stab -3
- The relevant war score for the peace offer is -99 for you
- and you have been in war for at least 3 years at -99 WS with the nation making the proposal you must accept the proposal.
5. Play long term
- Always notify the GM/CO-GM in advance if you are unable to play a session. Preferably days in advanced.
- Find your own sub, or risk being AI or get a less skilled sub.
- Be online on ICQ/MSN for importent information before the session start.
This also makes it easier for the GM to get an overview of the roster before the game starts.
- Try to enter the Vnet atleast 5 minutes before session starts. To download save. This will save alot of time and means more play time. Which is what this game is for. To play and have fun.
6. Editing will be kept to a minimum and all edits will be done after or before a session, not in middle of session(there were and will be exceptions....).
7. Max 6 provinces may be gained by an alliance in a war by the opposing alliance. However, there's a max of 3 per nation. (So a single nation peacing is max allowed to take 3 provinces.) An alliance is defined as any number of nations fighting a common enemy at the same time. A war is defined as a period of warfare followed by at least 5 years of peace (to prevent immediate DOWs on struck down enemy after one alliance peaced). A CoT counts twice on limit. As does a gold province. If there's a disagreement between the countries in an alliance about who will get what as a fair split as possible needs to be made. (3/3 provs if two nations disagreeing, 2/2/2 if three disagreeing, 1/1/1/1 if four nations can't agree (they're not allowed to take more than their share rounded downwards after all). For more follow same pattern. However if for example 3 nations agree there's nothing preventing them taking 4/1/1 or similar.
8. Gamey behavior will not be tolerated, Use common sense...
General rule: if you think something is an exploit, then it is likely that it is one. When in doubt ask the GM.
The following is forbidden. The list is probably not complete.
• Attacking an enemy fleet with pirates, as well as comparatively very small fleets, only made to inhibit loading/landing.
• Releasing one or more vassals during wartime, to hinder an enemy.
• Force-burning of manufactories, i.e. repeated move and halt orders to an army in a province with a manufactory.
• Using lag to your advantage. This includes (but is not limited to): Sending lag colonists, building lag fortresses, sending lag missionaries, using lag diplomats. (The exception is using lag diplomats to send cash).
• Declaring a 'fake' war on a country, with the aim to:
o Increase the stability of the nation you declare war on.
o Change the religion of a protestant or Counter-Reformed-Catholic nation back to Catholicism before the Edict of Tolerance.
• Exploiting Simultanity: Using the game engine to break a deal, that would occur simultaneously in the real word. This includes (but is not limited to) the 'sale' of something in game.
• Using bugs listed in the bug thread to your advantage.
• Converting from Catholiscism to either Counter-reformed-Catholicism or Protestantism and then switching back to Catholiscism before the Edict of Tolerance.
• Cancelling being the vassal of another player within 10 years, except when an event allows you to do so.
• Vassalizing countries when you are below centralization 8 (EXCEPTION: Brandenburg)
• Avoiding the Spanish bankruptcy events, despite owning the provinces that trigger them for the majority of the time.
• Trading maps with the AI.
• Sending loans to the AI.
• Use of Defender of the Faith.
The following is allowed:
• Breaking a truce, even when at negative stab.
• Not leaving a human alliance, despite the alliance leader asking you to do so.
• Landing armies in the port of a country you are in war with, because you still have Military Access.
• Sacking capitals for maps
Extra Rules:
• Cultural Rule: Any nation that control 75% of a culture for 30 years may claim that culture as state culture, but a nation can only claim TWO(2) cultures. So plan it carefully as a culture gained by this way will not be removed in any case; Japanese, Han, Mongol, and Cantonese can't be claimed and Persian can only be claimed by OE or Mughals after 1700. The burden of proof in this matter lies on the players.
• If a human is forced-vassalized or forced-converted he must remain this way for at least 20 years. Unless his liege frees him peacefully after those 20 years he must fight for independence (if he wants it). Vassals cannot declare war on the Overlord's allies or vassals without his permission.
AAR and intense diplomacy are highly recomended.. Don't let the game die during the weekdays
