one question:
when the new religions (protestant, reformed) appear will they spread out in the provinces historically or is the scenario edited somehow that all europe stays catholic to achieve maximum balance? its very important to know before bidding because it makes some nations more difficult to play. its a severe disadvantage if you need to handle several religions in your realm, on the other hand you have the possibility to convert to another religion (im a great fan of reformed since im a heavy trader in most games).

one comment:
the starting positions are not totally balanced. the CoTs values differ from less than 50 to over 200. but i guess its very difficult if not impossible to create a scenario with equal CoT values. at least this makes the bidding more interesting.

Strange. I have fixed some errors, as the fortresses in Eire and the pop in Helvetia.

When I dl the file, now, it is the correct one but the stats regarding fortresses in EIre has not been updated on the stats page. But the rest of the changes has.

All events are slept, including the reformation

I understand what you mean, but Im still slightly leaning to an unlocked slider.

Im not quite sure what you mean here.
For example:

Lets say France chooses to go naval instead of land, how can it then be safe from its neighbours, mainly Austria and Brandenburg/Prussia if they, as they most probably will, have max land?

You would have to be either very bold and ambitious or very, ahem, special:p, to go naval as France.

I'm talking about games where people make logical decisions. France goes land, England goes naval. England then is safe from all non-naval countries, like France, the OE, Russia, Prussia, Austria, maybe Spain. And France is safe from a land attack from naval nations, like England, NL, DK, maybe SWE or Spa and Venice. I could make a bunch of lists, but you must see where I'm going with this now.

Bold and ambitious are my middle names. :D

As I said, I understand where you are going and I am in a "grey" zone, although I lean slighlty towards the Bobs suggestion. :)

If you ever go naval as France I just call you crazy ;).

And bah, my suggested compromise is way better than Bob's :p

"We could retain elements of both, however. This could be done by allowing movement of the slider, but on the condition that after each session it would be moved back to 0. Or after every other session. So, if you found it important enough for upcoming wars or a massive naval buildup or whatever, you could still go 2-3 clicks one way or the other, and secure a pretty big advantage against any foe that doesn't match your movements, but not be permanent. I think this would be better than a purely locked or unlocked game."

Correct, I tried to put the COTs as good as possible.

i guess i can live with that rule, it seems like a fair compromise. it leaves the possibility to choose either the naval or the land way but the differences shouldnt be that much, so a land nation can still compete with a naval one on the seas and a naval nation is still competetive on land.

Good, then that is what we will do. :)

Crazy just happens to be one more of my middle names.
