Bocaj,
Good to know that I didnt leave Prussia in so bad a shape that it unplayable.
You said you were playing with a modem?? That is something I didnt think was possible to be honest. Good to hear it works.

Nah Prussia was doing good. I'm not sure I could do any better. But I'm not a real whiz at Victoria either.

P.S. Why has Hannover state only got 15 POPs? It normally has like 60.

Lies! Austria is peaceful. Well, kinda. Don't forget that it was Prussia that declared war on me & Russia - though why they did that, I'll never know.

Austria is peaceful, and the American tanks are nowhere near Baghdad  come on bud you said you'd planned the war for 3 years.

Actually the funniest part was when you said that you were mobilizing because you mis-clicked, and then you didn't demobilize because you wanted to "check the effect on your economy" I'll have to use that one sometime.

You got me ;) Still, we didn't DoW! The war could've been avoided with a peaceful backing down by Prussia and the cessation of a few provinces...

Btw Specterx, would you mind meeting me on IRC? irc.dynamic.com, channel is #victoria. I would really like to talk. My ICQ is screwy, I can receive your messages buut can't send any out

As long as Uber-Austria and Uber-Russia are combined, this game isn't worth playing imho.

I've already stated that any war begun by Austria at this time will not be supported by Russia, instead I declare Russia neutral for time being, but under certain circumstances Mother Russia will take sides.

Good session. The only thing I didn't like about it was that it wasn't Lamprey that I got silesia back from. :)

Well, events went something like this:

Austria was subbed by count drew, who brought austria up to #1 in indy score (700 something). Then he attacked Switzerland. France by this time had about 150 divisions to Austria's 190. I decided that I'd rather not have Austria on my border, so told Drew to withdraw or I'd kick him out. He proceeded with his war so I attacked (without Germany). I had my best regular troops deployed to the S-P border while Austria's were in switzerland so I quickly took all of S-P. There was a big battle (120 divisions plus) in Torino as before, and France won as before. Once S-P was occupied I peaced them for a bunch of provinces and continued the fight on the new Austrian border. Austria meanwhile took all but two provs from Switzerland. About this time Germany attacked, which I'd expected, but most unexpectedly Russia and the OE piled on... in the end Drew fought probably as well as he could have, but the Austrian army was almost completely destroyed in two battles (70 divs killed by the French at Milan and 60 or so killed by the Germans at Karlsbad, losses on the allied side were about 30 divs in the first battle and 20 in the second - experienced troops with artillery vs. understrength reservists made the difference). As far as I could tell the Russians and Turks simply occupied the country. In the end Silesia went back to Germany, Switzerland went to France (will be annexed and released as a buffer satellite) and the OE got two provs (Moldavia). France ended up taking most of the casualties AFAIK, about 15 regular divisions killed, along with about 30 reserve units. As far as I can tell Austria lost nearly 100% of its regular forces, and went from 188 milscore to 111.

I should note that as part of the peace France was given all of SP, but of course it will take several additional wars to annex it.. so presumably the other war participants will support the fulfilment of this part of the deal.

France at least is vastly richer than it was last session, about 50% more income. Things on the diplomatic front will probably be more dynamic now that Austria has been reduced, at least for awhile.

As far as I know Austria is about where it was econ-wise, it didn't loose many provs (just silesia+moldavia) and Drew claimed that Austria had the same income as before the war.

Christ, you guys got some newbie subbing for Austria and he demolished the country? Now what's curious is, how did he *lose* all the divisions in two battles. Has he ever heard of retreating, terrain, entrenchments, leaders? I should just let him play it out, if he couldn't keep other nations from attacking him in MP and lost his army in 2 battles then he's got no clue about diplomacy or warfare.

On the other hand, you guys can't be claim that your newbness was taken advantage of in a war when you stuck the worst player under the sun in Austria and took advatnage of *him* in turn

Drew isn't a newbie - just perhaps not the best player to have subbing you during a war. What he should have done was surrender at once. But that's not Drew.

Those battles obviously weren't the only two battles fought. In the early part of the war versus france he put about 90 divisions in italy and switzerland, and held the latter. It rapidly became obvious that at least Germany was going to attack, so he couldn't achieve numerical superiority on the French front. Austria had leaders - but so did everyone else, and my troops at least had better combat values. A retreat bug may have been responsible for the Milan battle, and I think Karlsbad was an encirclement.

As far as I can tell Austria hasn't been permanently damaged, considering that no territory was lost beyond that which you took from Germany. Only a matter of replacing the lost manpower, since small arms and things are plentiful now.

And, I might add, you're lucky we were able to find a sub at all. I don't need to point out that it's very bad form to just not show up, without any warning or notice, and (so far) with no explanation after the fact.

Sorry, had a date, and I'll be damned if I put Vicky before life ;)

I do think the AI would've done better. Least it wouldn't have alienated all of Austria's allies, not to mention doing at least as well militarily.
